I spent the next few days with Adrian. Mostly to keep him happy, but deep down I know I can't keep dragging this on for too long.
I need to break up with him.

I find myself looking at Draco more often than normal. Knowing that I'm going to break up with Adrian soon and that I'd be spending Christmas at the Malfoy Manor.
He catches me staring sometimes, which just makes his ego puff up even more. I always end up rolling my eyes as he chuckles.

It's the day before Christmas break.
The last day I'll see Adrian. The last day of our relationship.

I see Adrian with his group of friends out on the courtyard. I hide behind the pillar as I take a deep breathe in and out. 'You can do this. Just rip it off like a bandaid.'
I hype myself up and start to walk towards Adrian and his friends.

"Look who it is!" One of his friends says, "Miss Joy Deveroux!" I smile at them before focusing my attention to Adrian.

"Hi, can we talk?"

He nods and motions for his friends to get lost. They happily left while yelling out "Make sure you bring him back to us, Deveroux!" I wave at them before Adrian grabs my hands.
He looks me in the eyes when he asks, "What's up?"

I slowly breathe as I muster up the courage to say, "...We need to talk."

I found my way to the astronomy tower, since someone was under my tree near Hogwarts Lake.

I walk up the many, many steps to the top and saw that the astronomy tower was already occupied.

He looks at me as I got to the top, "I-I thought no one would be up here. I can go if you want." I already start to head for the stairs.
"No... stay."
Draco goes back to looking at the sky.

I join him at the railing that overlooks the grounds.
He's the first to speak. "You know, we haven't been up here at the same time since..." I nod, "Yeah, I know."

"Let me show you something." He pulls me closer to him as he points towards something down at the ground below. "You see that?"
"What?" I try to look at where his finger is pointing.
"The tree. Look familiar?" I squint my eyes as there's obviously tons of trees he could be pointing to, but he's pointing at the tree that someone is currently sitting under.
"The tree I always sit under?" He nods, "I always watch you from up here."

I scoff, "That's not creepy at all." I say sarcastically. He chuckles, "Whenever we weren't talking to each other, I would hope to see you under that tree."
"Why?"
"Even when you were mad at me or I was mad at you, I wanted to make sure you were ok."

I looked out to the mountains behind the lake. Snow covered the hills, and snowflakes fell into my hand as I reached out to catch one.

It's quiet for a bit. I look over to Draco who seems like he's in deep thought.

"What are you thinking about?" I ask.
"You."

My head turns to him, confused.
He looks at me, "Break up with Adrian, Joy. You should be with me."

He pulled me closer, our faces only inches apart. I felt my heart racing faster with every second that I looked into his silver eyes. I looked away from him so my heart could calm down.
He brought his hand to my chin and lifted my head slightly back up. He placed his lips onto mine, very softly. I felt the butterflies in my stomach finally settle the second he kissed me.

A cold breeze brushed against my lips. We weren't kissing anymore.

I watched him walk away from me before he says,

"I'll wait for you, however long it takes."

And he began to go down the stairs.

I stood still, in complete awe of what just happened.

Draco was... sweet again.

I brought my fingers to my lips, thinking of the electricity that shocked through me when his touched mine. I didn't have this kind of electricity when Adrian kissed me.
My eyes widened as a thought came to mind...

He doesn't know I already broke up with Adrian.
