Chapter 9 (Mia) ( Over)

" Hello " Dexter says loudly and waves his hand in front of me . I don't mean to be spaced out I just been thinking about how Max did me wrong last night .

" Sorry what was you saying ." I ask

" What is wrong ?" He asks

" Nothing " I lie

" You have not been listing to me , you only been playing with your food and you have not asked how the gig went ." My friend says

He is right I have not ate I am literally playing with my food like a toddler. I have not spoken and I have not asked him about his gig which I always do .

" I am sorry Dex ,How was your gig ?" I finally mange to pull myself from my thoughts to speak .

" It went well ." He answers

" Now what is going on in your head ?" He asks

I guess I do need to talk to someone about it because it is driving me crazy , it just really embarrassing."

" Well Max drove home with us last night ." I state

" Really Nathan said just him and Jim ." Says with a surprise look on his face .

" How in the world did y'all fit in Nathan's little car ? Dexter asks and takes a sip of his water

" Apparently Jim left to hook up but it was still too close for confront for me and Max . " I tell him

" Did Max try something? " Dexter asks with concern

" Yea he tried to get me to hook up with Nathan " I answer

A fry falls from Dexter 's hand . He is surprised but I think I am still in shock .

" I can't believe him that little " Dexter says but I interrupt him

" It is fine I know for sure it is over like the trend of haveing bangs over . " I say

" And don't go to him , I will be fine and in some strange way I want him to be fine too ." I say and mean it .

My phone dings a text it is from Mr. Mathis

(Thanks for your help this morning I would like to Thank you maybe take you out for diner .how about tonight .) I read out loud .

" You know you can't go , I mean he is your teacher ." Dexter says

" I know he is out of line but I don't want to quit his class it is good for me , he is not like into me . I help him get settled in to the class room today and I helped him a lot last spring . He just wants to thank me , but I will not go to eat with him that is not appropriate . I say then text him .

( It was no Problem I am glad I could help no need to Thank me see you in class on Monday . )

I show Dexter the text and he says

" Bang shut him down "

I laugh.

" So you are over Max Rogan? " he asks

" I didn't say that , I know we are over so maybe I will be soon . Every Saturday he would go to this hike place he showed me and all summer every Saturday I would go hoping to see him . Today I forced myself not to because I knew as much as I wanted to see him I also didn't want to . How can I want to be with someone who is trying to get me to be with someone else ? I say

Then I look off . And decide to get over Max Rogan!!!!!!!
