Chapter 39 (Mia) ( Sailing into disaster)

I run into the school it is empty and cold since school is out . I am only here to bring Mr. Mathis some papers , I threw on a Yoga and my hair up in a bun . I bring in the papers and hand them to him .

" Thanks you are a lifesaver " he says without looking up at me .

I don't feel like I once did feel like things was strange and awkward . I always looked up to him is a great designer .

" See you around ." I say

" Wait , What is your plans tonight it is New Year's Eve . " he says and his brown eye seem to do a dance

" Well my folks is having a party so I will have to make a small appearance there . And my friends are going to a party , but I will probably end up staying up in my room . " I say and I feel like sad teenage girl .

" You shouldn't be alone remember when I said a couple weeks ago that I think you would love to go sailing why not tonight .?" He suggestes

I don't have nothing better to do , I don't want to be alone , I don't think Mr. Mathis is interested in me . I think he is alone he has no friends here .

" It would be fun I will have you home by midnight you can watch the ball drop ." He says

That causes me to laugh . I have not been feeling like partying lately . I never sailed before I could like it .

" Ok sounds good can I meet you there like I said my parents is having a party ." I tell him

" Sure " he says and smiles the biggest smile I ever seen .

At home I have my dress lying on the bed . It is a pink rose color the shoulders has lots of straps on it . I stare because I bought it a while back for New Year's Eve I attended on wearing it to a party or somewhere I imagine being with Max . But I know now that can't happen .

" Hey " I hear and then realize it is my brother and Kylie .

" Y'all look so cute " I complement them

They are all smiles . They are matching both in blue . They really are couple goals .

" Come with us ." Kylie begs

" I just don't want to party " I say

" Are you going to hang here while mom and dad host there shindig ?" My brother asks

I don't answer because I feel pathetic. Kylie eyes goes to the dress . She looks at Lee and says

" Lee I will meet you down stairs we need a girl talk quickly though." Kylies says

My brother smiles and leave out of my bedroom .

" What is with this .?" Kylie asks

" I bought a long time ago I was going to wear it ." I tell her

I can't tell her that I am going sailing with Mr. Mathis , it would cause her to worry and tell my brother who wouldn't allow it then no telling what would happen.

" I may go out with a guy who is a friend nothing sexual will happen we are only friends ." I say

My brother yells for Kylie to hurry up and I am thankful I don't want no lecture tonight .

" Well I would wear that you done bought it ." Kylie says and leaves but the girl does have a point.

Mr. Mathis boat is beautiful . It all is just amazing . Everything is except it is cold and I forgot my coat . He bring us food from a Italian place . Most of the night we talk about fashion , really the only thing we have in common . After we eat he stands up and says

" Mia come and look at the view from here ."

I follow him and he is right it is spectacular.I shiver and he notices because he take his coat off and wraps it around me .

" I forgot my jacket " I say and laugh

" It is ok " he says then laughs he seems to be nervous , I don't know why . We are now parked at the doc . I am glad that the night is close to over . Not that it has not been nice but it just needs to end .

He pulls out his phone and puts slow music on .

" Would you like to dance ?" He asks

" yes " I say with a smile

We dance for a few seconds then he puts hand his under his coat which I am wearing . His hands is only on my waist but I am not very comfortable with it . So I back away .

" What is it ? " he asks

" I think I should go home ." I announce

" Wait it is still early ,and you have to let me tell you something ." He says

My heart beats faster I don't know what he has to say but I don't want to know . I think I made a mistake coming here .

" Mia I think we can be great together ." He says

Oh no I didn't want to hear that .

" Mr. Mathis this can never happen ." I say and turn to walk away

" You are a tease ." He shouts

I really don't think I ever lead him on .

He walks closer to me . His face is red and anger is in his eyes .

" Listen " I say but I am interrupted by him grabbing my arm

" You are hurting me ." I say and try to break from his grip but it is to tight .

Then he puts his lips on me , I try to push him back , but he only grips tighter . I scream and hit and pray silently that God will get me out of this . Somehow I get out of his grip . I turn to run but he grabs his arm of his coat and I take it off the rest of the way . I run but he comes after me he pushes me against railing . I some how get away and he rips the strap of my dress .

I knee him in his privates causing him kneel over . I run . I run so fast . I keep looking back but I don't see him . . I don't know where I can go , I couldn't walk into my house like this with the party . Besides it is too far . The only place I can think of that ain't so far is what I use to call our place . I run for as long as I can but I stop and catch my breathe but I am sure he was not following me . I never seen him so mad . The truth is I don't know who he is . I almost there I just want to lie on the bed and cry . I open the door and to my surprise Max is laying on the bed with a book in his hand .

" Mia " he says

I just stare in shock .!!!!!!!!!!!!
