Emily smiled to herself as she straightened her clothes and made sure her hair was in a decent bun. Loki waited for her to finish getting ready, stood up, then took Emily's hand. "I don't care if anyone sees us together. I'm happy to show you off to the whole building." He grinned.
She squeezed his hand as she walked to the door and unlocked it before she opened it and led him into the hall. "What changed your mind?"
"I love you too much to care if they know." Loki said truthfully.
Emily blushed and tightened the grip she had on Loki's hand as she pressed the button to signal the elevator. "I love you too. You're so sweet Loki."
"No one has ever considered me to be sweet before." Loki admitted with a chuckle.
Emily led Loki into the elevator once the doors opened, then leaned up to kiss his cheek once the doors closed. "Well you're sweet to me."
"Only to you." Loki grinned. He looked at the buttons, trying to remember which one was their floor.
She watched him as he stared at the buttons. "Can you remember which one our floor is?"
"I don't know. I thought I would recognize it, but the symbols are so strange." Loki sighed.
"Okay, there are fourteen floors and a basement here at the tower. Our home is on the fifth, which is the biggest home floor," Emily explained. She continued to point to each button and say the number to hopefully help Loki understand.
Loki stopped Emily when she announced the button for the fifth floor. "That is the one I push, right?"
She chuckled and nodded. "Yes, that's the one."
Loki pushed the button and grinned a childlike grin when it lit up. "I did it! It lit up so it's the right one!"
Emily smiled at him and squeezed his hand. "That's the right one, but every button lights up if you press it."
Loki's grin quickly turned into a frown. "I thought it only lit up if it was the right button?"
"Don't be discouraged. It lights up to show you've pressed a button. That's all." Emily squeezed his hand once more.
"It would be better if it lit up when it was the right one." Loki huffed.
"Baby, it's alright," Emily soothed. The elevator dinged and the doors opened so they could walk out into the hallway. "How does your leg feel?"
"It's still sore, but I think I will be alright." Loki said truthfully. When he stepped out, he took Emily's hand to walk with her.
Emily let Loki lead her back to the door that would lead them inside their apartment. "I guess it was good therapy then," she said with a giggle.
"I can definitely handle having that kind of therapy... I will be healed in record time." Loki chuckled. When they opened the door, the smell of freshly brewed coffee greeted them.
"That smells good, I wonder if it's Mary or Thor?" Emily questioned as she shut the door behind them.
Loki stepped into the kitchen, but stopped when he saw Mary asleep on the kitchen floor, using her work bag as a pillow. "Should we leave her here?"
Emily sighed as she walked in behind Loki. "No. She needs to sleep on the couch or the bed. I might be able to lift her."
"I think I can carry her, if you want me to. It will just be hard to stand up with how my leg is." Loki said to Emily.
"I don't want you to hurt yourself Loki." Emily bent down and put one arm under Mary's legs, the other under her head. Then she took a deep breath before she lifted her up into her arms, only stumbling backward a couple of steps.
