(Smut in this chapter)

The following morning, Pepper came by early and knocked on the door to Loki's room. She wasn't happy to be there, but following Tony's directions, she simply continued to knock without trying to enter.

Emily groaned and looked up to see Loki was still fast asleep. "At least he's a heavy sleeper," she mumbled. She stood and wrapped the blanket around her shoulders, then answered the door. "Morning Miss Potts," she greeted.

"I was told to bring you this." She handed Emily a dress bag. "Tony has informed me you will be accompanying him. Be ready by seven sharp." She said then walked away.

She furrowed her brow as she watched Pepper walk away. Someone's jealous. Emily closed the door behind her and placed the dress bag on a hook before she returned to her bunk and dug one of her books from her bag and began to read.

"What's her problem?" Loki asked and yawned. "The voice finally went away."

Emily looked up from her book and smiled at him. "I'm not sure. I don't think she likes that I'm going to the event with Mr. Stark tonight. What voice are you talking about Loki?"

"The voice from last night. It didn't bother me anymore." He repeated. "Why would she care?"

"Are you talking about Jarvis?" Emily asked as she placed a bookmark in her book. "I'm not sure why she would care."

"Is that the voice from last night that made the lights go off?" He asked her curiously.

She nodded. "Yes, that was Jarvis. He's more a part of the building than anything. He helps Mr. Stark with his suits."

"I don't like him." He said, then groaned and rubbed his temples.

Emily stood and walked to his side. "What is it? Do you need more medicine?" she asked softly.

"My head hurts. It's been doing this off and on all night." He muttered, waiting for the pain to pass.

She reached forward and gently ran her hand through his matted hair and massaged his scalp, trying to soothe the pain. "I looked at your scans with Mr. Stark last night," she said quietly, "You have a pretty decent head injury. There's a significant amount of scar tissue, but we're going to try and treat it and get you better."

"No. Only you. The others make my head hurt." He muttered, then finally relaxed as the pain eased.

"It's because you get so tense," she replied as she sat on the edge of his bed. "Everyone that would come in this room, would only want to help you. I don't know what the treatment would be for it right now, but I will be here every step of the way." Emily flattened his hair back out and grinned at him. "When you're able, I'll help you clean up too."

"The headaches are not because I'm tense. I wasn't tense while I was sleeping but they still woke me up several times. And the stuff in my hair makes my head itch." He said, having no trouble complaining to her.

"I'll ask the doctor when you can shower, although you're going to need my help to do so. The headaches are from your injury. I'll let Mr. Stark know about it," she replied, then reached across him and grabbed the menu. "Are you hungry?"

"It comes and goes, like a stabbing pain. It's so intense it's blinding, then it's gone." He sighed. "I am always hungry..."

Emily reached for her phone and quickly messaged the symptoms to Tony, then placed it on the bed. "What do you want to eat? Eggs and pancakes? Waffles?"

"What are waffluls?" He tried to ask, finding the word odd and complicated. "Whatever is fine, I'm not picky about food.""

"A waffle is a kind of bread that you pour syrup on. It's a sweet breakfast food," she explained as she grabbed note paper off his table and wrote down a big breakfast for him. "I think you'll like it." She stood and opened his door to stick the folded paper in the cranny of the window.
