In His Dreams

"I remember you!"

The woman, who I bumped to, got her brows furrowed the moment she had to look back at me. She curiously checked me from head to toe, having no idea who she was talking to.

"Excuse me?" she said, obviously weirded out by my existence.

I fake a cough to clear out my throat. I even brushed my hair with my hand to fix my look before facing her again. "You look like the woman I am married to in my dreams.." I paused a second, then continued. "..but we can make it a reality," I told her as I gave her a wink.

Of course I had to heave a sigh when she let out a small laugh. I turned around from her to give myself a congratulatory tap on my chest.

"You're funny," she talked.

We were currently inside a nearby coffee shop to get some drinks and have a little conversation, at least.

"Can I get your name?" I asked.

Her eyes are indeed beautiful, even though she had already glared at me multiple times since we met.

I shook my head when I realized the reason of her big beautiful eyes this time. "The barista needs it," I explained.

She immediately panicked and reclaimed her glare. "Trixie," she uttered. She has a beautiful name too.

Actually, I just made that as an excuse to know her name without sounding so creepy. I never wanted to scare her.

"You?"

I almost drop our frappé when she talked all of a sudden. Luckily, I was able to place the tray at the table before it was too late. "Me?" I asked, offering her a chair.

"What's your name?" she smoothly asked.

I sat first at the chair in front of her before I answered. "I'm Zach, but you can call me babe."

And from that moment, our first meeting was followed by second, third.. until it turned out to be a date. We were officially dating, just how people call it.

"Thanks," she said when I offered her a seat. Our dates weren't usual. I always made sure that. I want to be extra for her. There's something inside her that makes her special, beyond her knowing, and I love making her laugh.

"Yes," she answered while crying.

"Yes? Yes?! Yes!" I jumped out of happiness because finally! We're officially together! The woman of my dreams said yes! Everything were starting to be a reality.

"I love you always, Trix!" I shouted, before I gave her a warm hug.

We were at the rooftop where I decided to surprise her, five months after we began dating, and asked her to be my girlfriend. I wasn't really expecting her to say yes, but then she did.. and I was really thankful.

I'm in love with her. Not from the first time we met, but when I got to know her. Her heart is pure and precious. She's a woman of her words and I love how passionate she is on everything. She never took advantage of me when I was courting her.. and I am sure of her.

"I love you too always, Zach," she uttered.

She's the woman I'd love to be married with in the near future. "Thank you for making me the happiest man today," I exclaimed, still hugging her tightly as I gave her a kiss on the top of her head.

I was crying all along upon reading Zach's journal. This man. I know I was crazy when I accepted his offer to have a cup of coffee that day, but I would never regret my decisions from that day on.

"I was a nobody before, but Zach saw me as a woman. He treated me well, including my family. I loved him even before we were still dating. He was the man I'd love to be with until we grow older.. if only I still has the chance."

I'm trying so hard to stop my tears from falling, but I'm having a hard time to do so.

"I know, you're already free and happy there, babe. Thank you for fighting for us, but I don't want you to suffer in here anymore. You've already fought a tough ride the moment your sickness went through. You can rest now.."

"..but I have one special request. Please visit me here whenever you're free. I'd love to feel your presence. I hope your memory got back. Do you remember me, babe?"

A butterfly landed on my hand the moment I finished my eulogy. I smiled when I felt his presence. I think I know what he wants to say.

"I remember you!"
