"That mission was the most important one for us. We discovered the feelings that we had for each other and we decided to be together. From that day forward we spent as much time together as we could."

"What happened with the device? Did you ever figure out what it was?"

"Yes, but it wasn't till days later that Headmistress told us what it was and what they needed it for."

All students stand in lines facing towards the podium in front of the room where the teachers sit in chairs behind it and Headmistress stands at it.

{Why were we all called here? What is so important?}

I look to the line on my right where Shadow stands facing the front.

{It's been a few days since we've been back. Shadow is completely healed up and we both received our punishments. She wouldn't tell me what they made her do, as for me I had to run multiple drills over and over until my body was so tired I couldn't move. Since then Shadow and I have barely been apart. We study together, eat our meals at the same table, and our training goes more smoothly now that we get along. At the end of the day once everyone is asleep we've been taking turns sneaking into each others' rooms to sleep. Since Shadow was able to get a goodnight's sleep in the hospital, we lay together every night. It calms Shadow and makes her feel safe, and when she starts to panic I immediately wake up and wake her up. It helps to keep Demon away and allow Shadow to rest more.}

Shadow turns and looks at me before giving me one of her signature smiles. I blush and look around to make sure no one sees me as I give her a smile back.

{We have to hide our relationship from everyone, they all just think we are partners and nothing more. If they were to ever find out we would be separated and severely punished. Teammates are not allowed to be romantically involved, they say it would distract them and risk their missions and lives. I don't disagree that it can be dangerous after what happened but I also know that being together also makes us stronger and we have each others backs.}

Shadow faces forward again as Headmistress adjusts the microphone.

{We were in the middle of our training when they called us to this meeting.}

I face forward as well, looking towards the podium.

"Hello everyone. Thank you all for coming. You are probably wondering why I called you all here." She holds up the gun scanner, "This is why."

{That's the device we retrieved.}

"Thanks to two of your classmates we are now able to move forward in one of our projects. This device allows whoever is holding it to scan a person and determine whether or not they are metahumans."

Everyone starts whispering.

{It's a metahuman detector? I thought only S.T.A.R. Labs had one of those.}

"Quiet down."

Everyone stops talking.

"As I was saying, this can scan for metahumans. I will show you." She steps to the side of the podium. "Shadow, Jinx."

I stand up straighter as everyone turns and looks at us in our lines.

"Yes ma'am." We both say.

"Since you two are the ones who retrieved it, why don't you come up here and join me."

I look over at Shadow as she looks at me. She shrugs before stepping out of her line. I sigh and step out of mine as well heading towards the front. We stop and stand in front of everyone as Headmistress walks towards us.
