Chapter 77

After a discussion of her medical history, blood tests, and a urine sample, Toby entered the room and took his seat next to Spencer.

"Hi Toby," Spencer's obstetrician, Dr. Connor greeted him. "I told Spencer that we've determined the due date. You're expected on August 28."

Spencer and Toby shared a glance, and it was obvious what the other was thinking.

"So is everything okay then?" Toby asked.

Dr. Connor smiled in reply. "Even though you aren't that far along, it looks like the damage to the fetus is minimal. We'll be able to detect any damage when you're around sixteen weeks. But if you limit physical activity, you're on schedule to completely heal. The risk of miscarriage has reduced significantly."

Spencer was practically jumping in her seat. She beamed at Toby and wrapped her arms around him. They were almost in the clear.

"So do you want to see your baby?" Dr. Connor asked.

Spencer nodded in return.

Fifteen minutes later, they had located a small, Lima bean sized shape on the screen.

Dr. Connor pointed to the screen. "There's your baby," she said.

Spencer was absolutely mesmerized. That was their baby. She's known about this baby for a little over a month and she already loved it more than anything else.

Toby squeezed her hand, leaning up to kiss her. Everything was in place.

Or it was until they stepped out of the hospital.

Spencers phone rang and she picked it up.

"Hey Spencer, it's Hanna. I was hoping I could stay at your house for a while."

"Of course, Han! When are you coming out?"

"Oh, well, I booked the soonest flight, and I'm actually at the airport right now. Could you come pick me up?"

"Sure," Spencer obliged, irritated. Of course hanna would just spring this on her her.

"I'll see you soon, Spence! Bye!"

"See you soon."
