Chapter 91

On the rare occasion Toby got off work late and Spencer was already home, she tried her best to make dinner for him. That was done, and her sweet tooth had gotten the best of her. So she had retrieved a box of brownie mix from the depths of the cupboard and got to work.

So what if her pregnancy hormones made her a little crazy? She was perfectly content with dancing around the kitchen to her favorite playlist with a whisk in her hand. And at that moment her husband walked in.

He merely chuckled at the sight. "I'm so used to perfectly poised and uptight Spencer. Although I must say, I like this one even more."

Spencer smiled a took him in her arms. She hugged him as tight as her bump would allow and reached up to peck him on the lips. "Welcome home, honey."

"Wow, I was planning on calling in pizza, but you really outdid yourself," he said, motioning to the feast before them.

"Let me get the brownies in the oven first, okay?" Spencer replied, grabbing the bowl of mix.

And at that moment, a certain song started to play, it's distinct notes filling the kitchen.

Toby held out his hand to her, to which Spencer just laughed. "I am not going to dance with you."

Toby looked at her quizzically before grabbing both of her hands in his. "You don't really have a choice."

Spencer sighed in gratitude as Toby pulled her even closer into him, allowing her body to sink into his warmth. For some unknown reason, this song had always been able to evoke some emotion from the couple, no matter their current situation.

Maybe it was a mistake kissing him at that moment. Their rage of emotions had somehow spilled over, causing him to grab her roughly by the waist, easing her onto the counter.

They kissed maybe for minutes, maybe for just seconds, before oxygen became a necessity and they pulled apart.

"You should probably get those brownies in the oven," Toby suggested.

"You're probably right."
