The first tears fell as the door slammed. After the initial shock of what had happened, Spencer realized the facts.

She had just told her fiancé to leave. Would he even come back? Why the hell had Spencer made such a big deal in the first place? Her friend had offered her home to them and Spencer had refused. Toby had wanted to go, but Spencer didn't, and she let a simple argument turn into war.

Part of her wanted to call him and say she was sorry. She wanted him to come back. But she was still a Hastings, and she couldn't admit defeat. God, would she even become a Cavanaugh?

They had been engaged for 9 days, and had already had a fight. Was this an omen that things wouldn't work out?

Spencer forced herself to eat and took a shower. She thought it would help, but recalling a time from high school- they don't make loofahs that clean out your head- she remembered that the pain wouldn't go away with a simple shampooing.

The hot water did, however, calm her down enough to attempt sleep. But as soon as she crawled into the empty queen bed, the tears came back. She and Toby rarely fought, so she wasn't sure how to cope this time. Since they had moved, there had been smooth sailing. Until now.

She contemplated getting out of bed and calling him, but he said he probably didn't want to talk to her after what happened.

By the time 3 o'clock came she'd already cried her self to sleep.
