Chapter 73

Spencer was so excited by the prospect of being a mother that her mood wasn't touched when she learned her baby's chance of survival. Since the baby was already one month developed, the blow to Spencer's stomach had done minor damage to the fetus. But the doctors were unsure if it was especially harmful to the baby's health. But for now, they were fine.

Immediately after Alison has been killed, Spencer and Toby went to the hospital, the others returning to the safe house and then to Liam and -formerly- Melissa's. So they hadn't had a chance to tell them the news about their baby.

Spencer and Toby approached the door and were instantly greeted by Hanna.

"They're in the living room. Jade and Liam are in hysterics, so they're upstairs." Hanna explained.

In the rush of everything that had happened, Spencer had almost forgotten that her sister was dead. The familiar feeling of dread rushed through Spencer's body as she stepped into Melissa's Rosewood home.

Aria stood up, running to the other side of the room to embrace Spencer.

"I am so sorry, Spence," Aria muttered, when in reality, it wasn't her fault. No, it was Alison's incessant need to take away everything in Spencer's life.

Spencer pulled away, hugging the rest of the group as well. Now she sat among Ezra, Aria, Travis, Hanna, Mike, Paige, Emily, and Toby. And she was ready to deliver her news.

"So when we were at the hospital, they found something," she started.

Emily's eyes widened. "What is it?"

"Are you okay?" Ezra interrogated.

"I think. It's just that... I'm pregnant," Spencer beamed.

A chorus of squeals and "Awhs" erupted from the group and the enclosed Spencer in a tight group hug. Spencer pulled away to speak again.

"There is a chance that the baby won't make it, because the fetus was damaged from the punch to the gut, but I'm ecstatic nonetheless."

The next half hour was consumed by the girls introducing themselves to the baby, Ezra talking about his experiences being a father, and Aria's advice for pregnancy, parenting, and everything in between.

Now Hanna leaned in, placing her mouth near Spencer's stomach.

"I'm your Auntie Hanna. And I'm going to spoil you rotten. Just you wait."
