"Toby, are you okay? You've only had one slice of pizza," Spencer asked worriedly.

"No, I'm fine Spence, just not that hungry. I had a late lunch," Toby lied. The anxiety was eating away at him. What if she said no? What if she wasn't ready? He loved her, and he knew he wanted this, but what if Spencer didn't?

"Would you like a box?" their over attentive waitress asked.

"Please," Spencer replied politely.

After she came back with the bill, Toby and Spencer both laid down $20.

"Spence, it's my treat," Toby said, pushing her hand towards her.

"You make it so hard to be a modern-post fem-" she was interrupted by Toby's lips against hers.

"Don't worry about it," Toby mumbled.

While Spencer used the restroom, Toby texted Emily.

"Leaving the pub now. Get ready."

The couple stood up and stepped out into the chilly air. They got in the car and drove to their usual parking spot by the dam. Toby put 50 cents in the meter and took Spencer's hand.

They walked down the sidewalk along the lake, talking about various things. The recent episode of Modern Family, their jobs, and the dinner they had just enjoyed.

They passed the Baker House. It was an old, grand house that was a hotel and banquet center that Spencer often used for seminars. After each one, the couple would cross the street to a small alcove that sat right on the water.

That's where they were headed now. Toby led Spencer down the steps. He leaned in to kiss her before kneeling down one knee.
