"So, Spencer," Hanna sat up straighter. "Let's hear all about it."
She shifted uncomfortably in her seat. She glanced at Toby, silently sending him out of the room. Explaining everything to Hanna would entail describing all the pain she was in and everything she was worried about.
"I'll clean the plates and go print out the movie tickets," Toby muttered understandingly. They hadn't really talked about the pregnancy yet, but he wanted her to talk when she was ready. As soon as he was out of earshot, Spencer turned to Hanna.
"What do you mean by 'everything'?" Spencer asked.
"You know, how it feels, what you know, what you want, your fears..." Hanna trailed off.
"How it feels," Spencer started. "Okay. Well, I'm always bloated and constipated-"
"Okay, ew," Hanna squealed.
Spencer glared at her. "You asked."
Hanna rolled her eyes and Spencer continued. "I'm eleven weeks, so the baby is only the size of a lime. We heard the heartbeat for the first time yesterday. I'm due August 28."
"So you were pregnant before the wedding, even before Christmas?"
"I guess. I just was too busy to notice."
Hanna giggled to herself. "Busy doing what?"
"Oh my god Hanna. I was just busy planning the wedding. Nothing like that."
"Come on Spence, you're obviously not a prude. But are you using increased sex drive to your advantage?"
"Actually, we're on a strict no-sex policy. There was minor damage to the fetus when Ali attacked me, and the doctor wants to make sure everything heals."
"So does that mean there's no more chance of miscarriage?" Hanna eased, knowing this was hard to talk about for Spencer.
"We're only safe after I'm out of the first trimester. After that I guess we're pretty safe."
Hanna nodded, then changing the subject. "Boy or girl? Are you moving into a bigger house?"
Spencer looked up thoughtfully. "Boy. I've always wanted a cute, little boy who will be just like his daddy."
"Girls are cute, too," Hanna grumbled, obviously disappointed in Spencers answer.
"And I don't know if we're going to move. I think I want to secure my job first. We can fit three here. But Toby keeps saying that he wants to build me my dream house for me and our family."
"Speaking of houses," Toby started, reappearing. "I want to talk to you about the house we're building in Rockton. It's a half hour away from here, but it's a beautiful, large house. I think you'd love it."
"What's a large house if there's no one to live in it with? And how am I going to pay?" Hanna asked, confused.
Spencers eyes lit up. "You and mike should get together! You two obviously have feelings for each other, why not make it official? And I'm sure Tobes could help with the financial aspect."
"I guess," Hanna agreed.
"Good, I'll take you on a tour of the house tomorrow." Toby said.
Spencer pushed off of her chair, walking to the bedroom.
"Where are you going?" Toby asked.
"We have a movie to get to. Remember?"
"That's not for another eight hours, Spence."
"I was thinking we'd stop by the house in the way, give Hanna a tour now."
"Whatever you say."
