Chapter 1

This isn't goodbye...

4 years later

Al called Erin to let her know the body they tried so hard to bury Had turned up. He and Voight were suspects and the feds are looking for another person (a woman).

Al: Right now they have enough evidence to lock me up.
Erin: Al I got you into this I will turn myself in.
Al: no you've been doing so good for yourself don't worry about this. I gotta go I'll talk to you soon. Love you kiddo.
Erin: love you too.

A week later.

Al was found guilty and was awaiting trial. He called to inform Erin on the situation.

Al: They found me guilty but, Hank says he's trying to find a way out.
Erin: This is my fault🥺.
Al: i went out there so it's just as much my fault.
Erin: my team and I are coming to Chicago for a quick case tomorrow I wanna see you.
Al: okay, but i don't want you staying in Chicago long. I'll see you tomorrow.

Next day.

Erin and the team arrived in Chicago early this morning. They told Erin to go see her old colleague, while they go set up at the cover house. Erin was just as nervous to see Al as he was to see her.

She never expected to see him standing there in an orange jump suit, but he never expected to see her with a little boy.

Al: your a mom...🥺
Erin: yea, I am. Al I would like you to officially meet my son Leonardo but we call him Leo for short. Hey Leo, look it's uncle Al.
Leo: Unky Al.
Al: He's adorable, I've missed you kid!❤️
Erin: I've missed you to. How's everyone doing.
Al: They're doing good, the team got a new member you remember Hailey Upton.
Erin: kinda, we work that case together that sent me to the ivory tower.
Al: Yup that's her. How's New York treating you?
Erin: it was a fresh start, as much as I wanted to stay here in Chicago leaving was the best thing for me. How's jay been?
Al: Thats amazing, our boy Halstead had the reverse affect. He went down the tubes bad, he started lying, drinking, and doing drugs. He slept with a suspects sister, he shot and killed a kid, and his ptsd took a real turn for the worse.
Erin: Al I didn't know, how is he now?
Al: Better his partner Hailey she was really there for him.
Erin: that's good at least someone had his back.
Al: so, tell me about this little guy?
Erin: He's 3 years old, his next birthday is coming up soon. He's super smart, very funny, loves food, and cars. Every time we go to the store we end up buying a new car.😂 He's super neat like everything needs to be perfect.
Al:😂 I take it he gets that from his dad👀.
Erin: Very funny Al, but yea he does.
Al: Im also guessing he doesn't know anything about him.
Erin: nope, and I intend to keep it that way until I'm ready or Leo start asking about him.
Al: you should reconsider that. My time is up kiddo. Erin I'm so proud of you, I love you kid and you to Mr.Leo.
Leo: Lub you too unky Al.
Erin: I love you, hopefully Hank can figure this out.

1 week later.

After coming from an undercover mission, Erin found out that Al was stabbed in prison and lying in critical condition at Chicago med. she took a few days off to go see, not knowing this might be her last chance. When she arrived at med the whole team was still there and she wasn't really in the mood for a family reunion so she sat in the back in corner with Leo. Once everyone left, her and Leo left to go see him.

Erin: Hey Al, I know you probably can't here me but, me and Leo are here.
Leo: hi unky Al, I lub you ❤️. Is he going to be okay mommy?
Erin: I don't know this time.🥺

Al died a couple hours later, in the past this would have broken her. Ever since Leo was born she found a reason to live again. Meredith was planning the funeral three day from now. I thought I would go.

The Intelligence unit!!

Adam: I can't believe he's gone.
Kim: I use to think he was untouchable.
Jay: I haven't seen Hank this upset in a long time.
Antonio: I think it's because his family just got smaller. It's only Erin left and he hasn't seen or heard from her since she left.
Kevin: so she doesn't know about al?
Adam: she probably don't even care, she hasn't called or tried to reach out to any of us. She should've been here, he was there for her.
Kevin: I guess he wasn't that important to her. She only come back for certain ones.👀
Hailey: what is that suppose to mean.
Antonio: when jay got kidnapped a few years back, Erin wasn't in great shape her best friend was murdered. She quit her job and went down a spiral, but she came out of her spiral to save him.
Adam: She only cares about Jay and Voight.
Hailey: She obviously doesn't care about Jay, she would've been here when he needed her.
Jay: look let's just get through this weekend.

The weekend went on, and it was finally the day of Al's funeral. The team stood in uniform to give Al his final salute. Erin sat at the back of the church with Leo. She saw her old team up front struggling trying not to cry. She stayed till the funeral was over and everyone had left. After she left the church she went to Al's final resting spot. She stood in the back of the crowd so they didn't see her. When it was all over, her and Leo stood in front of Al grave and gave their final goodbyes. She started to walk away but someone bumped into her. Their eyes linked but Erin quickly grabbed Leo and left. They went back to their hotel and packed their things up. The team had left the day before, so she grabbed her and Leo's things and headed to the airport.

Erin left Chicago again without saying a word. This time she wasn't sure if she was ever coming back.........
