The Return....

Chapter 7

Antonio: did you really just try to accuse her kid of scratching you.
Hailey: I was trying to get information from the kid, I thought she would come in screaming his name.
Adam: I know one thing, He's smart like he really caught on to what she was trying to do.
Kevin: Like lil dude wasn't scared or anything.
Jay: what do you mean?
Kevin: you know when you didn't do something but somebody said you did, most kids would jumping around saying they didn't. He just looked at Erin and said no I didn't.
Kim: I guess she's teaching him right.
Hailey: she's doing something cause he didn't budge at all?
Platt: I guess he considers you a stranger, he's actually a very sweet kid. He must not like you.

Platt: Antonio can you help me with Hanks office?
Antonio: yea, what are we supposed to do with it all?
Platt: Erin said to send it to his house.

Antonio and platt packed up Hanks office, while jay, Adam, Kim and Hailey continued to discuss the next sergeant.

Kim: I'm kinda excited to have a female boss!
Adam: you already heard she's a hard ass.
Hailey: Who ever it is they have big shoes to fill.
Jay: hopefully we get along with her.
Adam: This has really been a crazy 48 hours, we buried Hank, Erin came back with a son, she slapped the shit out of jay, found out she knows Joe Maddon, and now she's gone again. In 48 hrs we're going so have woman coming run our team? Oh and also none of our jobs are secure.
Jay: Hey Platt, what else do you know about our new boss?
Platt: She was highly recruited for this job, they told her she can hire and fire anybody.

Erin and Leo headed to the hotel and picked Nick up and headed to the airport. Their tickets were already waiting at the gate, Leo and Erin didn't have any bags to check since they left their clothes at their new house. They waited for nick to deal with baggage claim, then they all went through security. After that they walked down to their gate and waited for the plane to board.

Leo: I had I great time mommy, I can't wait to come back.
Erin: I did to munchkin, I can't wait either.
Nick: I had a great time, I think Chicago might be a great place for a fresh start.
Erin: your accepting the job?
Nick: if it's still available?
Erin: of course!
Leo: so your coming back with us?
Nick: yup! How does that sound?
Leo: great, atleast I will know you!
Nick: huh 🤔, what do you mean?
Erin: Hailey tried to accuse him of scratching her, and called him a lier, because he didn't want to talk to her. He didn't know her, I told him if you don't know them don't talk to them. You did a great job with that to munchkin.
Nick: wow I surprised you didn't fire her!
Erin: They don't know I'm their boss yet, I told the commander to wait so I could tell them.
Nick: oooooo
Erin: Yea, so far they hate the idea of me, platt told them about the clean house I did.
Nick: 😂😂😂 who was scared?
Erin: Adam, he's really the one mad.

Now boarding flight 225 to JFK.

Leo, Erin, Nick boarded their flight back to New York. Leo was the first to fall asleep, Erin drifted off behind him and nick watched the avengers.

Back at the district Antonio and platt just finished packing up Hanks things. Platt asked the team to help bring the boxes over to Hanks house, they all grabbed the boxed and filled them in the cars. They drove to Hanks house and unloaded the boxes. It still felt so unreal to them, to be in his house and him not there. They brought the boxes to the living room, and everybody just sat down.

Jay: I remember when Hank threaten to put me at the bottom of Lake Michigan😂😂.
Adam: hank and al were the first ones to give me a chance.
Antonio: They both helped me through some tough times.
Kim: it still feels unreal.
Kevin: like I've never been to Hanks house except for that one time. So I'm like seeing everything for the first time. I've never seen any of these pictures.
Jay: um that's Camille his wife.
Platt: that Erin and Justin as teenagers.
Antonio: Danny and olive, Justin's wife and son.
Kim: that's Erin and Leo with Hank.
Jay: what 😮, let me see! This was taken last year. Hank knew about him, why didn't he tell us?
Platt: Hank was a man of many secrets, he was always there when you needed him.

They set there a little longer just thinking about Hank and Al, jay just set their staring at the picture of Erin and Leo. Platt told everyone to head back to the district and finish up whatever they had to do. Platt gave them the next 2 days off and told them to report back when the new sergeant arrived. Everyone left and went their separate ways. Antonio did notice jay was a little down while they were at Hanks house so he brought over pizza and beer.

Antonio: I know your in there jay, your trucks parked outside.
Jay: I was looking forward to a quite evening.
Antonio: yea whatever, I brought pizza 🍕 and beer🍺.
Jay: get in here then.

They both got comfortable jay grabbed a slice of pizza and Antonio grabbed a beer.

Jay: so, why are you really over here?
Antonio: to check on you, you've been extra down since you seen Erin.
Jay: How would you feel if the woman you wanted to spend the rest of your life suddenly disappears and pops up 8 years later with a son. An turns out she's been coming to visit without any of us knowing.
Antonio: wow, we all honestly thought you moved on from Erin.
Jay: with who?
Antonio: Hailey!
Jay: what, she's just my partner.
Antonio: That woman has a serious crush on you jay, how have you not noticed.
Jay: After Erin no one could measure up to the standards. Haileys not Erin, no one can replace her.
Antonio: well you saw her leave again, it's time to move on.
Jay: I know but it's hard.
Antonio: no one said it would be easy.
Jay: at least we got the next 2 days off to relax.
Antonio: do you really think our jobs are on the line.
Jay: if so, I'll use my charm 😂😂.

Erin, Leo, and nick had arrived back into New York, they dropped nick of first before heading home. Erin decided she would call a moving company to help pack and ship everything. So while Leo went to take a shower Erin ordered them some Chinese food. While waiting for the food she went over potential candidates she would offer a job to from her current team. She already has nick, so she thought about offering her IT guy a job as well. She sent him a text to tell him to call her ASAP, and he did. Erin offered him the job and he graciously accepted it. Erin now had 2 of her former employees now teaming up with her in Chicago.

Their food arrived, Erin called Leo down to eat dinner. After they finished eating they both laid out on the couch and watched Captain America. This was one of Leo's favorite movies, because his dad was also a soldier too. About an hour into the movie Leo had fell asleep, so she picked him up and moved him to his bed. She went back down stairs to clean up their mess then headed to bed.

The next morning.........

Erin was up early trying to get everything in order. She contacted the director to let him know she accepted the job and that she was taking 2 agents with her. Then she contacted Leo's doctor so he could transfer his records over. She had shipped some of office things to Chicago already. All that was left was to do formal goodbyes to everyone. Erin went upstairs to wake Leo up and get him dressed, they would stop by his school first. When they arrived at school everyone was excited to see, that was until Erin broke the news they were moving. Erin got the rest of his paperwork, records, and all of his school supplies. Leo said bye to his friends once more and then they were gone. Erin,Leo, and Nick were on their next flight to Chicago.
