Chapter 31

The next morning, the family decided to go out for breakfast. Jay had left earlier that morning to pick Leo's pictures up. So now that they have them, they are ready to tell him. All three of them had ordered their breakfast. Leo was sitting in between both of parents playing on the phone. The waitress came back and brought their food to the table. Leo let Erin cut his pancakes up, and then he attacked them. Jay was watching as he was consuming his pancakes.

Jay: That is your kid!
Erin: Oh so he's mine when he eats.
Jay: Yea pretty much.
Leo: I'm sitting right here!
Erin: Hey babe did his pictures come in?
Jay: Umm yea!
Leo: ARE THOSE MY BASEBALL PICTURES?
Jay: Yea, do you wanna see them?
Leo: Of course!

Jay took the photos out of Leo and his teammates then the ones where he posed by himself. Leo was so excited, he told his parents he looked like a real baseball player.

Erin: You look amazing munchkin, you look like a full on future Cubs player.
Jay: Thank you momma!
Jay: I think this picture of you is my favorite. What do you think babe?
Erin: Oh yea, by far my favorite.
Leo: Oooh let me see!

Leo grabbed the picture from his mom, and then stared at the photo. He looked at everything except the shirt, but then he focused in on the shirt and then read it out loud?.

Leo: Big brother saurus, Does that mean I'm getting a little brother.
Jay+Erin: Yea, your gonna be a big brother!
Jay: How do you feel about that?

Leo looked at both of his parents and tears started forming in his eyes. Then he wrapped his arms around Erin waist and placed his head on her belly. Through all the crying Leo finally said " I can't wait to be your big brother.

Leo: I'm really happy, I can't wait! Do you know if it's a girl or a boy?
Jay: Not yet, but we'll find out in a few weeks.
Erin: Next weekend we gonna have the unit over to tell them the exciting news.
Leo: That's gonna be cool, can I tell Owen when they come over again?
Erin: Yea, but only Owen!
Leo: Yes ma'am.
Jay: Finish your breakfast.

The family of three finished their breakfast before heading out. They decided to spend the day relaxing. Erin and Jay were both still off work for atleast another two weeks, they made the best of it with their time off.

A week had passed and it was time for their thank you party. Erin wanted to thank the firehouse 51 crew, the Chicago med crew, and her team for helping them out when things got rough. Mouch had taken over the grill, while Erin set up the dessert table. Nadia organized the food table, and mouse put all the drinks on ice. Everyone started arriving for the party when Erin had requested to speak.

Erin: First I wanna start off by saying Thank you cause without all of you, my family would not be here. Thank you to the 51 crews for getting us out of that car, med for keeping us alive and intelligence for having our backs.
Jay: As much as this was Thank you party, we have an announcement.
Adam: your coming back to work, cause tony is killing us.
Antonio: You said I wasn't that bad?
Adam: Your my boss!

Everyone started laughing before jay started speaking.

Jay: Um no, we'll be back in a week hopefully. So I was gonna say, you guys not only save our lives but you also saved the life of our baby.
Kevin: Of course we love Leo!
Jay: yes, you all saved Leo but I was talking about this baby.

Erin lifted her hoodie up to show off her bump. Leo shouted Im going to be a big brother!

Kim: OH MYYY GOSHHH CONGRATULATIONS!!
Adam: Congratulations guys!!
Kelly: Congrats!!
Casey: I'm happy for you guys!
Will: I'm gonna be an uncle again!
Jay: Yes you are and we are very grateful for you. We're grateful for all of you.
Nadia: How far along are you?
Erin: 12 1/2 weeks now.
Kim: So you know what Baby Halstead gender is?
Erin: No we find out in a few weeks, and we will do a gender reveal for that as well and everyone is invited.

After receiving more congratulations from everyone, Jay and the guys headed outside while the ladies settled inside.

Mouse: so how do you feels about another kid?
Jay: I'm excited, but nervous. I wasn't around for this part the first time, so I don't wanna screw the kid up.
Kelly: I speak for everyone one when I say you are an amazing dad, that little boy over thereloves you to pieces.
Nick: The moment you found out, you stepped in this role and you've been succeeding ever since. I've known Leo all his life, and I've never seen him this happy. Your gonna be just as great the second time around.
Jay: Thank you nick, I really do appreciate that.
Adam: Here's to growing the family and adding another kid to intelligence. Cheers 🍻
Everyone: cheers! 🍻

Inside with the ladies everyone had found a seat in the living and was eating fruit and sipping wine. Erin stuck with apple juice. Kim and Nadia were the most excited, they couldn't stop talking.

Kim: What are you and Jay hoping for?
Erin: A healthy baby, but Jay wants a little girl.
I asked him is he sure he want another me and he said the cutest thing. He said " she'll be another girl that stole my heart!!"

The ladies: Awwwwwwww!!
Kim: y'all make cute kids, so if it's a little girl I feel bad for jay. That little girl will break hearts.
Erin: Jay probably won't let her date till she's 30.
The ladies: 😂😂
Nadia: Then again, if a boy breaks her heart do see all those guys outside, he'd be lucky if he walks away. That child has Top level security already.
Erin: I agree with you there. I guess we will find out the gender soon!!!!!!
