Chapter 36

6 weeks later......

Erin: Who would've thought 1 year ago today we would be on our way to the little league World Series, and our son "mine and yours" would be pitching in it to.
Jay: Er, I would have never thought of any of this. A year ago I was in a completely different headspace. I am grateful that I have you both here now and our little princess too.
Erin: Our son is about to pitch on national tv.
Jay: That is amazing, He deserves this too. As corny as it sound I feel like one of those dads who are to proud to cry, but I can't help it. My son is this amazing kid, and that's because of you.
Erin: Hey, he's both of us. Now let go find the team, they saved some seats for us.
Mouse: Over here!
Erin: Thanks mouse!
Kim: So how many games will they play today?
Jay: There's 16 teams and 4 rounds. The final round is the championship round.
Adam: How many games will Leo pitch in?
Jay: The Coach didn't say, but if he wants Leo to pitch in every game he has split pitching with Cam again.
Kevin: These kids look really big?
Erin: They are, Leo is playing up. I think he's one of the youngest on his team.
Kevin: That's crazy, like Leo is hella talented!

Umpire: Playball.....

The first round of the Little League World Series were under way. Coach Parker put Cam in first, which was very wise choice. Leo wanted to be long a term option during the tournament, so he played shortstop,  first and second base. He would only pitch if he was needed, so he was hoping Cam could get through majority of the game. Fortunately for Leo and his team the first round was pretty easy, Leo didn't have to pitch either. Round 2 was predominately older kids and teens, so Leo was definitely going to pitch. There was high school scouts out that hung out at the game and they were impressed. Leo had himself another shutout game, both teams put up an amazing fight but Leo and the Chicago Rapids will be advancing to the next round.

Leo and his team caught a break, there was a delayed start for their next game. That gave him a couple of hours to relax.

Jay: Leo, up here bud.
Leo: Hey guys!
Nadia: You look tired buddy!
Leo: I am, but we got a break since the other team isn't finished yet!
Erin: You wanna take a little nap then?
Leo: Yes please!
Erin: By the way your doing amazing out there munchkin, we're all so proud of you!
Jay: That we are, not take your energy boosting nap.

After Leo's hour and a half nap he finally woke up, his coach called for him to head down to the field. Coach Parker wanted the kids to start warming up, because their third game was about to start. Cam was going to start this game as well, and Leo would start at 2nd base. It was a good thing the team was hitting better, because cam was feeling really sluggish. They barely walked away with the win in this game. With this win that secured them a spot in the little league World Series game. The team was very excited for Leo, he made it all the way and they wouldn't be there to watch the game.

At the crime scene....
Kelly:Erin I am so sorry to have to do this to you on Leo's big day but we need the team down here.
Erin: We're on our way!
Kelly: Also I think you might wanna leave Nadia at the game this might bring up some bad memories for her.
Erin: Okay!
Jay: What's wrong?
Erin: Guys we gotta go, we caught a scene.
Jay: Right now, it couldn't have waited?
Erin: Honestly I don't think so. Kelly called me personally, Trudy and Nadia can you both stay here and wait for Leo?
Trudy: yea, that's fine.
Nadia: Sure, but are you sure you don't need my help?
Erin: I'll call you if we do, let's go!

Leo saw as majority of his family had left the game, he quickly shook it off and focused on the game at hand.

The team got in their cars and followed Erin to the crime scene. When they got there firehouse 51 was still on the scene. They walked over to Chief Boden, Kelly, and Casey. The scene looks like it was contained, the crew was starting to clean up.

Erin: Hey guys!
Kelly: Hey Er, I'm sorry to have to take you all away from Leo but we got multiple victims inside.
Adam: How come you didn't call homicide for this?
Casey: They we're all women, between 5'5-5'8, and they had brunette hair.
Adam: Coincidence?
Chief Boden: They also had green nail polish. If you put all that together......
Erin: You get Gregory Yates!!!!!!
Mouse: That's not possible! Is it?
Erin: Only one way to know for sure, we gotta call liv.

Erin steps to the side and pulls out her phone to make one of the most important calls in her life.

Liv: Sergeant Benson!
Erin: It's Erin!
Liv: Oh hey, how are you and Leo doing?
Erin: We're doing great, but that's not why I called.
Liv: Why did you call then?
Erin: We just caught a case, and they resemble the victims of Yates. Please liv tell me that sick son of a bitch is still in prison?
Liv: last time I checked he was, hold I'll have Finn call up there now.  "Finn call up there to upstate and confirm that Yates is still there."

After about 15 minutes Finn came back with an update..

Liv: Er, umm we got an update for you. Apparently 3 days ago Yates escaped custody, and if you say there's victims by you he's most likely there.
Erin: Shit!
Liv: We're on the next flight out.
Erin: Thanks liv, see you when you get here!
Jay: I don't like that look!
Erin: Alright listen up everyone...... As of 3 days ago Gregory Yates escaped custody in New York, and is likely here in Chicago. SVU Will be on the first flight here to help us find him and end this. Mouse call Nadia and tell her right when the game is over, don't detour or take any backroads get straight to the district with Leo and Trudy. Don't stop for anything.
Mouse: on it!
Erin: Okay, I need someone to go to the morgue for identification of the victims, umm Adam and Nick will go, Kim and Kevin see if there's any camera pods outside. Jay let's get CSU in here as well, so they can start processing the scene.
Jay: You have to relax babe, I know this is about to get super hectic but lean on us.
Erin: Your right it is definitely about to get super stressful.

After clearing the scene, the team headed back the district. Nadia sent an update that they were half way through the game. Adam and Nick were on they're way back with identification of the victims. And mouse was now processing the little information Kim and Kevin retrieved off the pod.

Mouse: The only thing I got from the pod was a man walking around the outside of the house in scrubs. There's no clear view of his face, and he never gets in clear view of the pod.
Adam: The three victims were all 28 years old..
Nick: Samantha, Emily, Laura, they were all nursing students at Chicago university.
Erin: So this is definitely sounding like Yates. SHIT..SHIT...SHIT... okay see if you guys can find a location on him and where he may have found these women. Me and Jay are gonna go inform the parents.

After informing the parents of the victims Erin and Jay arrived back at the district. When they got back upstairs the team was waiting with an update.

Mouse: We may have found when and where he met them at. 2 days ago there was a party in that neighborhood and they were there.
Kevin: We went through their social media accounts and one of them took a selfie and Yates got caught in the background.
Nick: So we know he's been here at least 2 of his 3 days out.
Erin: Great job everyone, now we just gotta find him now!
Mouse: Nadia said the game is over and they are on their way here.
Jay: Did she say if they won?
Mouse: She didn't say.....
Erin: liv and her team are arriving at the airport!
