Chapter 19

Valentine's Day was over, Jay finally built the courage to ask Erin to be his girlfriend. Life is going great for the family of three!

2 months later..... SPRING 🌸

Leo: PLEASE mom, PLEASE dad?
Erin: Jay what do you think should we let him.
Jay: I mean why not, he has great grades, he does all of his chores, I think we should let him.
Erin: I agree, munchkin while you were at school me and your dad left you a gift on your bed go grab it.

Leo ran to his room to see a box wrapped in a bow on his bed. He grabbed the box and went to the living room where his parents were sitting at. Erin told him to open the box, and he pulled out a brand new glove.

Leo: 🥺 I can play!
Erin: yea, me and dad thought you should play, so you don't always have to sit at the station after school.
Leo: Thank you Thank you Thank you! Dad Will you help me practice.
JAY: of course, you know I use to play to!
Leo: yea, uncle Will said you played too. What positions did you play?
Jay: I played at second base and outfield.
Leo: Wow you played two positions.
Jay: Yea, it was pretty great. So, you wanna go outside and through the ball around for a bit. I think the little league tryouts start next week.
Leo: Okay let's go outside and practice. Mommy are you gonna watch me?
Erin: Of course munchkin, I wanna see what my future Cubs player got.

The family of three went outside to the park across the street and started practicing. At first they would play pitch and catch, and surprisingly Leo had a great arm. He could throw with amazing accuracy, and he had enough strength and power. Jay had asked her to call Will, and see if he could come down.

Will: Hello!
Erin: Hey!
Will: What are you guys doing?
Erin: Not much, we're at the park playing baseball ⚾️.
Will: Ohh sounds like fun!
Erin: That's why I'm calling we wanted to see if you wanted to come out.
Will: sure let me ask Nat if she wants to join?
Erin: okay!

Will: Hey, Jay, Erin, and Leo are at the park and asked if we wanna join?
Natalie: Yea, I could let Owen run off some of this energy.
Will: Hey Er. We'll be there in a little bit.
Erin: Great!

Erin: Hey Babe, Will, Nat, and Owen are on their way.
Jay: Thanks! Hey bud, when Will get here's we will practice hitting.
Leo: Sweet!

Leo and jay continued to practice pitching and catching, an a few other tricks. When Will arrived they switched from pitching and catching to hitting. Jay suggested he use the tee to hit off but Leo said "NO". Will stood behind jay next to second base, jay tossed the ball to Leo and he let the first pitch go by him. Then jay threw the second ball and Leo crushed it. Leo had left everyone in shock.

Leo: Come on dad throw another one.
Jay: I'm going to throw it a little faster!
Leo: okay!

Just like the last time he let the first pitch go bye, then he bombed the second ball. Jay couldn't believe it, he continued to throw more pitches and Leo would just crushed it. It was really unbelievable how talented Leo was.

Jay: I have no doubt that you will make the little league team. Your amazing bud.
Leo: Thank you dad!
Will: He's right Leo, you are really good, better than your dad was.
Jay: Thanks will, but he's not wrong. You are way better than I was at your age.
Leo: You really think that?
Jay: I do, so you wanna show Will your pitching and catching, while I talk to your mom.
Leo: Yea, come on uncle Will!
Will: let's see what you got!

Leo still continue to impress everyone with how much talent he has. After throwing the ball around with Will, jay and Erin decided to call it a day. Jay invited his brother over for some pizza, to which Will happily obliged. Erin called ahead and order the pizzas, So jay and Will went to go pick them up.

Will: So, how's everything going with Erin?
Jay: Honestly it's going great, I thought having her as my boss was gonna cause problems but it hasn't. For the first time i get to see her take over a leadership role.
Will: Thats great, how are you feeling?
Jay: Man I haven't been this happy in a long time, did I tell Leo asked me why I didn't ask Erin to marry me?
Will: WHAT... what did you tell him?
Jay: I told him the truth, I wanted to but it was the wrong time.
Will: What did he say when you told him that?
Jay: he just asked me, will I ever ask her.
Will: and.....
Jay:☺️ I told him definitely, and that he would be the first to know.
Will: I'm happy for you, Erin being back has been really good for you.
Jay: it really has!
Will: I do you have one question?
Jay: and what's that!
Will: How come you two aren't living together?
Jay: I don't want to rush her into this, I want her to feel comfortable to ask me. I can't ask her to downsize and move into my apartment.
Will: that's understandable, so every night you end up leaving.
Jay: pretty much, but it will be worth it.

Jay and will paid and grabbed the pizza and was on their way back home. They continued talking about Leo and baseball ⚾️. When they arrived at the house Erin called everyone to the kitchen for dinner. Owen and Leo sat in the living while the adults set at the table. They chatted amongst themselves till they were finished, after they was done they all hung out for a bit before leaving.
Jay and Erin cleaned up while Leo went showered. After they finished cleaning the kitchen they went and sat down on. The couch and turned a movie on, rookie of the year was on.
Jay: you know growing up this was one of my favorite movies.
Erin: I use to love this movie too, I use to tell Trudy she looked like his mom.
Jay: looking at his mom and comparing her to Trudy they really do look alike.
Erin: I didn't get to say this earlier, but you looked amazing out there with Leo today. I'm so happy he has you in his life to be there to support him, and with you by his side he will do amazing things.
Jay: I think you mean with us by his side. We're in this together.
Leo: mom can I sleep in your room?
Erin: Sure!
Jay: He still likes his nightly cuddles I see.
Erin: yes he's does, I....
Jay: I guess I better get out of here so you can go cuddle him. See you at work Love you!
Erin: lo.. You know what, no I don't want you to go.
Jay: I have to go home to shower and sleep.
Erin: umm what if you didn't have to?
Jay: Er, what are you talking abo....
Erin: Move in with us?
Jay: what?
Erin: Move in with us, I hate that every time you come over you have to leave us at the end of the night so move in with us.
Jay: There's already enough people here.
Erin: you'll be sleeping in my bed, and nick moves out in 2 weeks and Nadia is like my little sister and mouse is like your little brother so what do you say?
Jay: you have no idea how long I've been waiting for you to ask, of course I will. I can wake up to your beautiful face every morning instead of a cold pillow.
Erin: I've been meaning to ask, but I didn't want you to say no.
Jay: the chance to be closer to my family, I'll take that any day. I LOVE YOU ❤️.
Erin: I love you too❤️.
Jay: I'll be right back!
Erin: Where are you going?
Jay: To my truck, I keep a duffel bag with extra clothes.
Erin: 🤨
Jay: I keep it just in case one night you ask me to stay over.
Erin: well hurry up, I'll be in the tub😉.
Jay: Leo's sleep in your room.
Erin: I know, that's why I hired a construction worker to make the walls in my room and bathroom sound proof. Just in case I ever wanted to have a little fun with you. So grab your things, and I will get the water started.
