FRIDAY-

Me and Sam were leaving today.. I wasn't excited, I was scared.. but I'm glad I had a friend there with me, Christmas was in a couple days so we were spending Christmas in Texas.

Daniel drove us to the airport. He told me some guy named David Hartman was picking us up, I've never heard of him so hopefully he isn't some creep.

Me and Sam got onto the plane, it was a 3 hour flight so it wasn't gonna be a while, we were landing in Dallas, and our house was about 15 minutes away.

-

We finally landed and grabbed our luggage, and I looked around, I saw a man in his 30's with dark brown longer hair, he held a sign that said my name.

Me and Sam walked over to him, "now which one of you is Harper Flynn?" He asked, I raised me hand. "Hi, I'm David Hartman, I was your mom's boyfriend." He said.

I looked at him speechless, "oh, I'm sorry for your loss." I said and he nodded. "She was your mom, I'm sorry for your loss." He said and I nodded.

"Now you don't mind staying in your room right?" I nodded. "Yeah I don't mind." I said and he nodded.

-

We arrived to my house, I walked in and it's like all the memories rushed into my head, it made me feel uneasy, it had been over a year sense I have been here..

I looked over to the coffee table, I could still see the dent from when she shoved me into it.. first time I ever spent the night in the hospital.

I looked over to the counter and saw the knife rack, David was showing Sam around and talking about my mom when I diverted off to the rack.

One knife stood out, I walked over and grabbed it, I saw the dent in it, "why would she keep this.." I said to myself.

David walked over and grabbed it and put in it the garbage.. "she told me about that, and the coffee table, and the bathroom counter and your tv stand." He said.

Sam looked at me and could see me getting upset, "she regretted what she did to you, she understood why you said what you did.. and she wasn't mad at you.. she didn't even blame you.. she blamed herself.." he said.

I took a deep breath fighting back my tears, "enough sad talk, that's gonna be all day Monday, why don't we get you settled in?" He asked and I nodded, he led Sam to the guest room and then me to my old room.

Sam set her stuff down and stood with me as I opened the door, I looked around studying the room, it looked the exact same,

A white bed frame with a twin sized mattress and white and black blankets on it, and 2 teal pillows.

There was a white dresser and a tv stand, a closet with clothes from when I was little and my record player.. my room was small but I loved it. I looked at my white tv stand, I thought back to that night,

"Mommy! Come read me a book!" My 5 year old self whined. "No! Your too old for bedtime stories!" She shouted drunk, "bev, read her a book please." My father pleaded. She sighed and started walking to my room. We had just moved into the house from leaving encino, so my dad was stressed with work..

"What book" she scoffed. I sat up and reached for the Cinderella book. "This one." I smiled, missing my two front teeth.

My mom looked at me annoyed and sighed, "whatever." She said and started reading it. Once she finished she told me to put it away.

As I did so she stood up and sense she was drunk she stumbled making me fall hitting my head on the tv stand making my head gush blood.

"Shit!" She slurred and walked away, "go deal with her." She said to my father. I screamed and cried as the little kid I was and held my face.
