Dream's POV

I couldn't sleep.

Every time I closed my eyes I saw it again.

George falling.

George disappearing.

George's watch going dark.

I rolled onto my side and stared at the ceiling.

The room felt wrong.

Too quiet.

Too empty.

Across the room, Sapnap was asleep.

Or at least pretending to be.

I could tell by the way he kept shifting around.

None of us were sleeping.

Not really.

How could we?

George had been with us since the beginning.

Before the challenges.

Before Minecraft.

Before all of this.

And now he was just...

Gone.

I squeezed my eyes shut.

For a second I almost expected to hear him complain.

"Dream, stop being dramatic."

The thought nearly made me laugh.

Instead it just hurt.

A soft creak echoed through the house.

I sat up.

Someone was awake.

Quietly I got out of bed and stepped into the hallway.

The living room was dimly lit by a single torch.

Y/N sat near one of the windows.

Her knees pulled against her chest.

Looking outside.

Alone.

For a moment I considered going back to bed.

Giving her space.

But then she wiped at her eyes.

And that made the decision for me.

I walked over and sat beside her.

Neither of us spoke.

The silence stretched.

Then—

"You can't sleep either?"

Her voice was quiet.

I shook my head.

"No."

She nodded.

Like she'd expected that answer.

A few more moments passed.

Then she laughed softly.

Not because anything was funny.

The kind of laugh people make when they don't know what else to do.

"George would've hated this."

I smiled despite myself.

"Yeah."

"He would've made some stupid joke."

"Definitely."
