Chapter 3

Y/n's POV

I jolted awake at the sound of footsteps outside.

For a moment I couldn't remember where I was.

Then reality came crashing back.

Minecraft.

The challenge.

The strange watch.

The fact that I was apparently trapped inside a world that shouldn't even exist.

My eyes immediately darted toward the small window I had left uncovered.

It was completely dark outside.

The moon hung high above the meadow, casting pale silver light across the grass.

A few zombies shuffled aimlessly near the edge of the field.

Somewhere farther away, a skeleton rattled through the darkness.

And right outside my house—

Something moved.

I sat up so quickly that my backpack nearly fell over.

The footsteps came again.

Slow.

Careful.

Like whoever it was didn't want to be heard.

My heart immediately started pounding.

There weren't supposed to be people here.

At least... I didn't think there were.

Grabbing my stone sword from beside me, I backed into the corner furthest from the door and raised the blade.

The footsteps stopped.

Silence.

Then—

Creeeak.

The wooden door slowly opened.

I tightened my grip on the sword.

A figure stepped inside.

They quickly shut the door behind them before turning around.

The moment they looked up and noticed me standing there with a weapon raised, they nearly jumped out of their skin.

"AH!"

I flinched too.

"WHO ARE YOU?"

The stranger clutched a hand to his chest.

"Oh my God, you scared me!"

I narrowed my eyes.

He looked familiar.

Blue shirt.

Dark hair.

Goggles resting on top of his head.

Wait.

No way.

"Who are you?" I repeated.

The boy immediately raised both hands in surrender.

"I'm George."

His voice cracked slightly.

"Please don't stab me."

I stared at him.

"...George?"

"The George."

"What does that even mean?"
