Nick's POV

The walk back felt quieter than it should've.

Not empty, just... different.

Like something about the way we moved as a group had shifted without anyone officially deciding it.

Y/N was in front, sorting supplies in her head as she walked. George stayed close beside her, occasionally checking his watch. Dream and I followed a few steps behind, falling into a slow rhythm without talking much.

We weren't strangers anymore.

But we weren't fully something else yet either.

When we got back to the house, Y/N immediately took over again like she'd been doing it for days instead of hours. She opened chests, reorganized food, and started gathering materials without even asking if anyone had opinions.

Honestly, no one argued.

She led us down a hallway I didn't remember being there before and opened two rooms.

Inside were two large beds, bigger than anything in normal Minecraft.

Y/N leaned against the doorframe. "I made these earlier. Two people per bed if needed. Or we rotate. Or floor works."

Her tone made it clear what she thought about the floor option.

Dream shook his head immediately. "No one's sleeping on the floor."

George nodded. "Agreed."

I just said, "Yeah."

Y/N blinked like she wasn't used to that level of agreement.

Dream smirked suddenly.

"I call George."

George immediately turned. "You don't just—"

But Dream already grabbed his wrist and dragged him into one of the rooms.

The door shut behind them.

George's voice muffled: "THIS IS NOT HOW DECISIONS WORK—"

Silence.

I looked at Y/N.

She looked at me.

"...Well," she said slowly. "That escalated."

"I think that's just Dream," I replied.

She let out a short laugh. "Fair."

She gestured toward the other room. "I guess that's yours."

I nodded. "Yeah."

She hesitated for a second, then added, "I'll take the floor in here. It's fine."

I frowned slightly. "You don't have to do that."

"I know," she said quickly, already dropping her bag. "I just prefer it."

That wasn't convincing.

But I didn't push it.

We both went into the room.

The torchlight flickered against the walls, casting soft shadows. It felt smaller than it actually was now that it was quiet.

Y/N immediately started organizing things again: food, tools, materials... like keeping her hands busy stopped her from thinking too much.

I sat on the edge of the bed for a moment, watching.

"You always do that," I said.

She paused. "Do what?"

"Take the uncomfortable option."
