Y/N's POV

We didn't go back into the fortress the next morning.

No one said it out loud, but we all agreed on it anyway.

The Nether wart was enough for now.

And none of us had the energy to pretend otherwise.

The camp felt quieter than usual.

Not peaceful.

Just... slowed down.

Like everything had been running for too long and finally needed to catch its breath.

Dream had already set up a brewing station by the time I came outside.

Three awkwardly placed cauldrons.

A crafting table.

A chest full of glass bottles.

George was crouched next to it, staring at the setup like it had personally offended him.

Sapnap was leaning against a wall eating bread.

"Okay," Sapnap said. "I just want to say—this looks like a science experiment gone wrong."

"It's literally potion brewing," George replied.

"Exactly."

I walked over.

Dream didn't look up immediately.

"You're late."

"I didn't know there was a schedule."

"There is now."

That sounded like him.

I almost smiled.

Almost.

We started with awkward silence.

Because none of us really knew who was supposed to lead this.

Dream eventually just... took control of everything.

Of course he did.

"Nether wart first," he said, placing it into the brewing stand. "That makes awkward potions."

Sapnap leaned over.

"Why are they awkward?"

"Because they don't do anything yet."

"Oh. Same."

I snorted before I could stop it.

Dream glanced at me briefly.

Not long.

Just enough to register it.

Then looked away again.

That tiny moment sat in the air longer than it should've.

George handed me glass bottles without speaking.

His fingers brushed mine for half a second.

He blinked.

Then paused.

"...I've done this before."

I looked up.

"What?"

He frowned slightly.

"I don't know how I know that."

Dream immediately tensed.

"What do you mean?"
