Chapter 25

Y/N's POV

The sun was starting to dip by the time we finally stopped.

Not because we were forced to.

Because Sapnap had dramatically collapsed into the grass again and declared he would "cease functioning as a human being" unless food happened immediately.

Dream didn't even argue with him this time.

He just walked straight to the chest and started pulling out cooked pork like he was used to Sapnap threatening collapse on a daily basis.

I sat down near the edge of the training field, letting my legs stretch out in front of me.

My hands still felt like they were buzzing.

Not painful.

Just... awake.

Like my body hadn't fully realized we were done fighting yet.

Dream dropped a piece of food into my lap without saying anything.

I looked up at him.

He didn't look at me.

Just sat down a few blocks away like it was normal.

It wasn't.

But I didn't question it.

Sapnap, still sprawled on the ground, raised his head slightly.

"So," he said, mouth full, "I think I've earned the title of emotional support casualty."

"You earned the title of dramatic," I said.

He grinned. "Same thing."

Dream actually laughed under his breath at that.

It was quiet.

Quick.

But real.

And it made something in my chest loosen a little.

Not fixed.

Just lighter.

We ate in silence after that.

The good kind.

Not heavy.

Not empty.

Just... together.

I glanced at Dream across from me.

He was staring at the training field like he was replaying every movement from earlier.

Thinking too much.

Like always.

"You're doing that thing again," I said.

His eyes shifted toward me.

"What thing?"

"Overanalyzing."

Sapnap pointed at him. "She's right. You do the thousand-yard stare thing."

"I do not—"

"You absolutely do," Sapnap cut in immediately.

Dream sighed and leaned back on his hands.

"...Fine."

That alone made Sapnap grin like he'd won something.
