Nick's POV

We stepped out of the room almost in sync.

Like neither of us wanted to acknowledge what had just happened inside it, but also didn't want to pretend it didn't exist.

The others were already outside.

Dream was crouched near the crafting table, adjusting pieces of iron armor with George standing beside him, half-wearing a helmet that clearly didn't fit right.

George looked up first.

"Finally," he said. "We were about to start without you."

Dream smirked. "We were not."

"We were absolutely about to start without you," George corrected.

Y/N walked past them without hesitation, already taking the iron from a chest.

"Good. That means you wouldn't have waited and I'd have less explaining to do."

That shut them up immediately.

I followed her to the crafting table.

There was something steady about the way she moved now;  not rushed, not panicked. Just... sure. Like she'd already decided survival wasn't optional, so everything else had to fit around that.

She placed iron down in neat stacks.

"Chestplates first," she said. "Then boots. Helmets last. Less damage drop if we get hit early."

Dream blinked. "You just... know that?"

Y/N didn't look up. "It's Minecraft."

George nodded slowly. "She's kind of terrifying when she's focused."

"I heard that," she said flatly.

George immediately looked away.

That made me smile a little before I could stop it.

We worked in silence after that.

Not uncomfortable silence, just efficient.

The kind where everyone had a role without needing it assigned.

Dream handled smelting.

George kept checking surroundings like he expected something to spawn behind us at any second.

Y/N organized everything into shared chests.

And I just... helped wherever there was a gap.

It worked.

More than it should've.

By the time the sun reached midday, we had full iron armor laid out in rows.

Y/N stood back, arms crossed.

"Okay," she said. "Everyone gear up."

George immediately grabbed a chestplate.

Dream put his on like he'd done it a hundred times before.

I followed suit, sliding mine on and feeling the familiar weight settle in.

It wasn't heavy.

But it wasn't nothing either.

It made everything feel a little more real.

When I looked up, Y/N still hadn't put hers on.

Dream noticed too.

"You're not wearing it?"
