George's POV

I woke up determined to survive the day.

Which, considering where we were, felt like a reasonable goal.

The Nether camp was already awake by the time I sat up.

Dream was checking supplies.

Y/N was organizing food.

Sapnap was attempting to balance on a fence post.

Again.

"You're going to fall."

"No I'm not."

Three seconds later he slipped.

"Ow."

I pointed.

"Called it."

"Nobody likes a know-it-all."

"I'm literally always right."

Dream didn't even look up.

"No."

"Rude."

The fact that everything felt normal again still surprised me.

A few weeks ago we'd all been strangers.

Now we argued like family.

A weird family.

A dysfunctional family.

But still.

Family.

The thought made my chest feel oddly warm.

So naturally I ignored it.

An hour later we were heading back toward the fortress.

The challenge still sat on our watches.

Find the Nether Fortress.

Complete.

Reward Pending.

Which was strange.

Because we'd obviously found it.

We'd spent two days inside it.

We'd collected blaze rods.

Explored corridors.

Nearly died several times.

And somehow the challenge still wasn't complete.

Dream wasn't happy about it.

"You sure we checked every section?"

Sapnap nodded.

"I think so."

"I don't."

"That's because you're paranoid."

"I'm realistic."

"Paranoid."

"Realistic."

Y/N sighed.

"Both of you stop."

Immediately they stopped.

It was actually impressive.

I glanced at Sapnap.

"You know it's weird how she can do that."

"I know."

Neither of us said it too loudly.

Because we enjoyed being alive.
