Y/N's POV
Training started the way most things had started since George died.
Quietly.
Without agreement.
Without a formal decision.
Just... happening.
By the time I stepped outside on the first morning, Dream was already there.
Standing in the grass like he'd been awake for hours.
Sapnap was sitting on the steps eating something that looked suspiciously like half-burnt bread.
"You're late," Sapnap said.
"I'm not late," I replied. "I live here."
Dream didn't turn around.
"We're starting."
That was it.
No buildup.
No warning.
Just a sword in my hand and a field that suddenly felt a lot smaller than it used to.
⸻
Day One
Dream didn't start with fighting.
He started with control.
"Walk," he said.
I blinked.
"That's it?"
"Walk without thinking," he repeated.
Sapnap raised a hand.
"I can do that right now."
"You're not participating yet."
Sapnap gasped. "I feel excluded."
"You are excluded," Dream said flatly.
I stepped forward into the field.
At first it felt stupid.
Just walking between fence posts Dream had placed.
No mobs.
No pressure.
No real danger.
But Dream kept changing it.
A fence appeared.
Then disappeared.
Then reappeared behind me.
"Again," he said.
I sighed. "You're just messing with me."
"Yes."
Sapnap laughed from the steps.
"Character development speedrun."
I rolled my eyes—but kept going.
After a while, I stopped reacting and started adapting.
Not thinking before every step.
Just moving.
Dream finally spoke again after a long pause.
"Better."
I glanced at him. "That's all I get?"
"For now."
It shouldn't have meant much.
But it did.
Because it was the first time he didn't correct me after every mistake.
