Y/N's POV
Nobody moved for a while after the challenge updated.
Not because we were scared of the Bastion.
Okay, maybe a little because of the Bastion.
But mostly because George had just gotten his memories back.
All of them.
The library had become strangely quiet after that.
The challenge notification had disappeared.
The glowing book on the pedestal had gone dark.
And now the four of us were just... sitting there.
Processing.
George sat with his back against one of the bookshelves.
Arms folded.
Staring at the floor.
Which was concerning.
Because George was rarely quiet for longer than thirty seconds.
Sapnap noticed too.
"You good?"
George immediately looked up.
"No."
"Cool."
"Not cool."
"Fair."
Dream snorted quietly.
George pointed at him.
"You."
Dream froze.
"What?"
"I watched you sit on that hill for three days."
Dream immediately looked horrified.
My eyes widened.
"What hill?"
George looked at me.
"The one behind the house."
Slowly I turned toward Dream.
Dream stared very intensely at a random bookshelf.
"Clay."
"It wasn't three days."
George looked offended.
"It was four."
"George."
"It was."
"You were dead."
"You sat on a hill."
Dream groaned and covered his face.
Sapnap immediately lost it.
"Oh my god."
I started laughing.
Actually laughing.
The kind I hadn't done in a long time.
Dream looked betrayed.
"This is why I didn't tell anyone."
George pointed dramatically.
"Because you knew I'd expose you."
"You're the worst."
"Thank you."
The strange heaviness that had followed us since the swamp felt smaller somehow.
Still there.
But smaller.
Because George was here.
