Y/N's POV
The next morning felt normal.
Which was strange.
Because normal didn't really exist anymore.
Not after the Nether.
Not after George died.
Not after George came back.
And definitely not after learning there had been other players before us.
Other people who had gone through the same challenges.
Other people who hadn't survived.
Yet somehow the morning still felt normal.
The river flowed beside camp.
The sun rose.
Sapnap complained about breakfast.
And Dream was already awake before everyone else.
Some things never changed.
⸻
"How are we out of bread again?"
Sapnap stared into a chest like it had personally betrayed him.
Dream didn't even look up from sharpening his sword.
"Because you eat enough for three people."
"I burn calories."
"You sat down for six hours yesterday."
"I was emotionally processing."
George snorted.
I laughed into my sleeve.
Sapnap pointed dramatically.
"Thank you."
"For what?" I asked.
"For laughing."
I rolled my eyes.
"You're ridiculous."
"Correct."
⸻
The mood stayed lighter through breakfast.
Lighter than it had been in a while.
Not because things were okay.
Because they weren't.
But because George was here.
And every time I caught myself looking at the group and seeing four people instead of three—
something inside me settled.
Just a little.
⸻
Eventually Dream stood.
"Alright."
Immediately everyone groaned.
Sapnap collapsed dramatically onto the ground.
"No."
Dream ignored him.
"We still need supplies."
Sapnap groaned louder.
"No."
"We need more ender pearls."
"No."
"More food."
"No."
"More arrows."
"No."
Dream stared at him.
Sapnap stared back.
Then slowly sat up.
