Snow Day

(Chara's POV)

We had just gotten home from school. The air was cold, despite the sunshine. I had to bundle up just to prevent myself from getting frostbite. That, and Toriel insisted.

"You're lucky, Asriel," Frisk said. "At least you don't have to bundle up so tightly, what with your warm fur coat and all that.

Asriel sighed as he took off his jacket. "Even so, it's nice to have other warm garments. It's as cold as Snowdin out there."

Aria nodded. "Though, I wouldn't go without my fluffy fur," she said. "That fur does help."

Toriel came into the living room, setting mugs of hot chocolate on the coffee table. "Drink up, my children," she said.

The hot chocolate was dark chocolate flavor, and I enjoyed it personally. And Toriel had taken the extra step of adding a small mountain of whipped cream on top, making it even more worth the cold.

Asriel took a long drink of his chocolate before lowering his mug. "Oh, golly, that hit the spot."

Aria chuckled. "Azzy, you've got a whipped cream and cocoa mustache."

"Do I?" He then licked off the mustache as best he could. Toriel came in with a roll of paper towels, ripped one off, and wiped the rest off Asriel's lips.

"Thanks, Mom," he said.

"You're welcome," she said. "Asgore's bound to be home soon, so hold tight."

I looked at Asriel. During his 16th birthday, we'd discovered that Asriel was starting to grow his own gold hair. Now, he was 17, and the gold hair had grown out a bit more, being clearly visible. He hadn't started growing a beard or mustache yet, though, if he actually was going to grow one. The mane was fully grown when he was in his God of Hyperdeath form, and he wasn't the only monster in the family to have gold hair on his head. In her Goddess of Hyperdeath form, Aria had shoulder-length golden hair of her own, so it was safe to say that she would grow hair like her father.

I was taken back by how much Asriel had grown and matured. He'd gone from the shy, sensitive crybaby I'd known into a caring older brother and young adult monster. It seemed like only yesterday that he was only 7, and Aria was a newborn, but those days had long past.

"...snowfall by tomorrow," Toriel was saying. She then turned to me. "Chara, were you listening to a word I said?"

"What?" I asked. "What were you talking about?"

Kris sighed. "In short, there's a snowstorm expected tonight. Chances are, we'll have a snow day tomorrow."

I nodded. "Well, might as well kiss school tomorrow goodbye."

Frisk shook her head. "Don't count school out just yet, Chara," she said. "There might be a chance that the snowfall was exaggerated, and that we'll have school tomorrow."

"I wouldn't dream of it."

Toriel sighed. "Please, no bickering. For now, we will have to wait and see."

(Kris's POV)

Goat Dad came home just in time, and not just for a dinner of chicken sandwiches and tater tots. Dark clouds had loomed overhead all afternoon, and once Asgore came home, the snow fell in earnest.

"You would not believe how much trouble I had getting home," he said. "I nearly slipped off the road twice."

"I am just glad you made it back safely, Gorey," Toriel said. "How was the meeting?"

Asgore shrugged. "It went okay," he said. "Though, I'll be glad for a break from these conferences."

We all knew Asgore went to meetings to help with the peace relations. Though, to be honest, I wasn't sure why he still needed to go to them. Peace had been established 10 years ago at this point.
