(Toriel's POV)
Ever since Frisk announced that she was expecting, I did my best to help care for her. It still was so exciting that I would be having grandchildren. That said, sometimes things were a little... rough, shall we say. Morning sickness had not been pretty, and hormones sometimes meant Frisk had sudden mood swings, from anger to breaking down in tears. I could relate to her struggles. On top of that, Frisk's cravings meant we ran out of pistachio ice cream all too quickly. Develyn had opted to get a pistachio ice cream cake for the upcoming winter holidays, but made Frisk promise to leave some for our guests.
That, however, would be in the future. Right now, we were getting ready for Halloween. Everywhere in the Dreemurr mansion, there were fake cobwebs, spiders, ghosts and other specters, a vampire or two, skeletons (besides the visiting Sans and Papyrus, of course), and more. Outside, purple and orange lights decked the mansion, while a 12-foot tall skeleton and his almost-as-large dog stood outside, waiting to welcome trick-or-treaters looking for sweets. A fog machine waited to be activated.
"Everything looks good, Tori," Asgore commented. "You've definitely livened things up!"
"looks like it'll be a real shindig here," Sans said. "course, it ain't my place to judge--that'll be up to you."
"SAAANS!" Papyrus cried in exasperation. "CAN YOU NOT MAKE PUNS FOR FIVE MINUTES?"
"alright. i'll set a timer."
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!"
I laughed at the two brothers' squabble. Things never got dull with them around.
"Aright, I got the last of the cobwebs put up," Chara called from one of the other rooms.
"Haunted candles are ready to go!" Asriel chimed in from the dining room.
Aria raced up to me. "The cookies are in the oven!" she said proudly.
"Thank you, my child," I said, patting my daughter on the head. "I'm sure they will turn out lovely."
"I hope so," Develyn replied. "I'm also hoping Frisk doesn't eat them all. It's bad enough she's plowing through our pistachio ice cream."
"I heard that!" Frisk called indignantly.
Then came a sudden knock on the door.
"I'll get it!" Kris replied. He raced up and opened the front door. Niko, son of the Divine Wolf of Cosmic Creation, Alpha, was standing there.
"Hello, Nico!" Asgore said. "Please, come in, and make yourself at home. Would you like some tea?"
Niko smiled. "Thanks, that would be lovely. There's actually something else I wanted to ask you guys."
In time, Asgore brewed some of his golden flower tea, and all of us were sitting in the living room, waiting for what Niko had to say.
"You wanted to ask us something?" Asriel asked.
Niko nodded. "My uncle, Omega, has something special planned for Halloween, and he's invited you to join him. All of you."
"What is it?" Chara asked suspiciously. I could understand why he wouldn't be too trusting. Omega, the Divine Wolf of Cosmic Destruction, had a reputation for being merciless and sometimes cruel. He despised humanity with a vengeance, with Frisk, Chara, Develyn, the Fallen Six, and Kris being the only exceptions. I couldn't help but wonder what he was up to.
"A haunted house." Niko said simply. "Don't worry, he isn't going to steal your SOULs. It's just that Halloween has always been one of Omega's favorite holidays, primarily because he gets to scare people and be all sinister without any repercussions. Mostly. Anyway, he says this haunted house is meant to be an immersive experience tailor-made to any and all who enter. What do you say?"
