(Asriel's POV)

Almost as soon as we went inside our home, my phone rang. Curious, I took it out of my pocket and checked the caller I.D. It said that Alphys was calling.

"Go ahead," Toriel said encouragingly.

I answered the phone and started talking. "Hello?" I asked.

Alphys' voice at the other end said, "H-hello, Asriel."

I smiled at her voice. She was always so nervous, but since we started living on the surface, she's gained some more self-confidence.

"How are you, Al?" I asked.

"I-I'm just fine. H-happy birthday, by the way!" She said.

"Was there something you needed?" I asked.

Alphys spoke more excitedly this time. "Apparently, Spirited Away is playing at the movie theater. I was just wondering if you would be interested in coming with me and Undyne?"

I'd never seen Spirited Away, but it sounded interesting.

"Just let me ask Mom," I said. I looked at Toriel. "Alphys wanted to watch Spirited Away at the theater with Undyne, and was wondering if I could come with."

Toriel gave an consenting nod.

"Thanks!" I said, and told Alphys, "Mom says I can go!"

Another voice — Undyne's — spoke over the phone. "We'll be here in five minutes! Don't be late, punk!" She then hung up.

Golly, Undyne is just the pretty little pixie, isn't she?

In five minutes, I heard a car's horn blaring.

"That's my ride!" I called. "See ya!"

The other Dreemurrs said "See ya" as I headed out the door.

(Toriel's POV)

I breathed a sigh of relief. I knew my son could take care of himself, and besides, Undyne would probably go full-on rage mode if someone attempted to hurt Asriel. Should that have happened, I would've been worried sick for the victim — which Undyne and Asriel wouldn't have been.

"Frisk!" I called. "Chara! Aria!"

The other three children raced downstairs to me and Asgore.

"We have a lot of preparing to do," I said. "We want to surprise Asriel, do we not?"

"Why not make Asriel think we forgot his birthday?" Aria wondered.

"Too cliche," replied Frisk. "Asriel would never fall for it. Besides, we're not jerks."

"We want to make Asriel feel special," said Asgore. "If everything is going as planned, Asriel must be thinking that going out to lunch was how we'll be celebrating." He chuckled. "Golly, will he be surprised!"

I chuckled, too. I loved the idea of a surprise for our prince.

Last night, Asgore and I had called everyone — except Asriel — to a meeting for planning a surprise birthday party for him. We decided to invite some of Asriel's closest friends to the party: Alphys, Undyne, Sans, Papyrus, and Monster Kid, as well as Thalia, Clover, Sage, Grace, Autumn, and Jericho. Mettaton and Napstablook were invited too, partially to provide entertainment via music and dance, and partially to celebrate his Sweet 16.

"First things first," I said. "Gorey, could you run out and get the decorations?"

"Of course, Tori," Asgore responded, and headed out to his car, closing the front door behind him.
