(Grace's POV)

I was showing Aria around Sans and Papyrus's house. Aria told me that the house's exterior should be bigger for the square footage of the inside.

"Then how did the inside get like this?" I asked.

Aria sighed. "First rule of the Skelebros: never question their antics."

"Even when they defy logic and reality?" I asked.

"Especially then," Aria chuckled. "It's nice to be with you, Grace."

"Likewise, Aria," I said gently. I hugged her, stroking her soft, fluffy fur. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a door that I swore wasn't there before.

"What's that door?" I asked.

"What door?" Aria asked. I pointed to the door, and she gasped. "I know that door! It's the door that leads to W.D. Gaster's room!"

"Gaster?" I asked. "Who's he?"

"The old Royal Scientist, before Alphys, and Sans and Papyrus's father," I explained. "Frisk told me that she's seen some of his followers, who said that he'd shattered across time and space after falling into the Core, his greatest accomplishment."

"I thought nobody remembered him," I said.

"Not true," Aria said. "He left behind such a legacy without intending to. He just wanted to help monsters with his inventions."

I looked at the door, the at Aria, then back at the door. "You're going in, aren't you?"

Aria nodded. "You coming? I understand if—"

I shook my head. "I don't want you to go in alone. Besides, you captured my interest."

Both of us turned the knob and opened the door. We entered a mysteriously tray, misty room. Not the void, like I expected. It was almost pleasant. And there, in the center, was the man himself.

Gaster turned to Aria and me. "Well, hello there, Aria," he said kindly. "I see you've brought a friend."

I swallowed nervously. "I'm Grace. I was... one of the SOULs Asgore harvested."

Gaster chuckled. It was a warm chuckle, which eased me. "Is that so?" He asked. "I'm glad to see you, Grace."

I nodded. "I heard you left a legacy behind."

Gaster sighed. "I did, but that wasn't my goal. I could've made huge accomplishments without any fanfare and still would've been satisfied. I just wanted nothing more than to improve the lives of monsters while we were underground."

"I've got something that concerns me," Aria said. "Frisk told me you were shattered across time and space. How can you be here and... well... out there?"

Gaster gave a sad smile. "This body is just one of my pieces. A large one, sure, but just a piece nonetheless."

"Oh..." I said. I felt sorry for the old monster. "I wish you could see the surface."

Gaster smiled. "I wish I could see it as well, but knowing that my friends, old and new, as well as all monsters, are able to see it is enough for me."

"Well, it's not enough for me," Aria said. She took Gaster's hand, saying "Come with me."

Gaster shook his head. "I cannot leave. My pieces are still out there. Just leave this piece of me here."

"Make me." Aria's voice took on a slight edge. Gaster didn't say anything else, probably because he knew better than to question the Princess of Monsters. "Grace, could you help me?" She asked.

I nodded, and took Gaster's other hand. Together, we headed to the door that led to the hall of the Skelebro house. Once we made it outside... well...

Several black, white, and gray things rushed towards Gaster. Not things, I realized. Pieces of Gaster.

Once all the pieces coalesced, a brilliant light shone from Gaster's body. Once it faded, the old scientist collapsed onto the ground.

"Wha... what happened?" he asked. He tried to stand, but fell down onto his knees. "Oh, my body... it feels like a lead weight."

Aria chuckled. "Having all your pieces return to you will do that."

"My... pieces?" Gaster asked.

Soon, everyone else rushed to the three of us, most likely to look for the source of the light.

"What the...?" Asriel asked. He, Frisk, Chara, Kris, Sage, and Clover all murmured among themselves. Sans and Papyrus, though, were silent. The others went silent soon after.

"My... my sons..." Gaster whispered.

"IT... IT CAN'T BE..." Papyrus said. "FATHER? DAD?"

"no way..." Sans said.

Tears filled Gaster's eyes. "My sons! Sans! Papyrus!" He rushed over and embraced them.

"DAD!!" Papyrus said. He started crying, tears slipping down his skull. A few tears welled up in Sans's eye sockets as well. I looked at Asriel, and saw he was crying as well.

"Asriel?" I asked.

"I'm sorry," Asriel said. "I'm still such a crybaby. These family reunions are so emotional..."

I hugged the fluffy goat boi. He probably needed that.

Aria smiled happily. How she knew that bringing that main piece of Gaster out of that room would prompt the other pieces to reunite was beyond me. I figured I might as well enjoy the reunion of the Gaster family.
