(Asriel's POV)
I was in the middle of a friendly game of Yahtzee with all members of my family: Chara, Frisk, Asgore, Toriel, and Aria. It was Chara's turn, and they got a Full House on the first try.
"Nice job, Chara!" Frisk said. "That was awesome!"
Chara smiled, writing their score on their sheet. "Not as cool as Mom getting a Yahtzee."
Toriel looked proud of herself. "That was pretty amazing," she said, beaming. "Now, it's Aria's turn."
I saw Aria with a determined expression on her face. "Alright," she said, "here goes—!"
She was interrupted by the doorbell when it rang.
Frisk got up. "I'll get it," they said, and left the living room. I could hear them open the door, saying, "Welcome to the Dreemurr Family home. What can I get for you?"
When they finished saying that, an unfamiliar male voice said, "Are any family members home? Specifically, Asgore and Asriel?" I heard Frisk confirm it, and a new voice, female this time, asked, "May we see them?"
I turned to Toriel, and saw her with an expression I'd only seen once before; she wore that face upon seeing me and Chara alive and well. "What's wrong?" I asked.
"I... I know those voices," she said.
Frisk entered the living room again. I expected them to be accompanied by 2 humans, but there were 6 following them instead— 3 males, 3 females. One boy had a cowboy hat and and a gun—specifically, a revolver. Another boy had a frying pan and a slightly stained apron. The third young man had a notebook, and glasses on his face. The first female had a pink leather gauntlet on her right forearm and a bandana tied around her head. The second had a plastic knife and a ribbon tied in her hair. The third girl wore a tutu and ballet slippers, as if she was going to perform at a dance recital.
I felt like I knew them from somewhere, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
Toriel seemed to recognize them as well. She was silent for a long time.
The girl with the tutu spoke up. "Hi, Mom," she said gently.
Tori finally found her voice. "My... my children!" she said. Tears slipped down her face. "You're alive!" She gathered them in her embrace. "But how? I
thought—"The boy in the cowboy hat spoke up. "You've got Asriel to thank for that."
At that point, Asgore stepped foreword. He looked ashamed. "Children," He said. "I was the one who ordered your deaths. For that, I owe you an apology." He lowered his head. "I'm sorry."
The boy with the pan smiled. "We accept," he said.
It was at that moment that I recognized them. They were the humans who had fallen after Chara and I died. They wanted... well, who knows what?
And I had absorbed their SOULs to destroy everything. Bad memories resurged in my mind. My eyes filled with tears as I recalled what I had done.
"I'm sorry!" I sobbed. "I've used you as tools for my own purposes and I didn't care about your feelings and I treated you horribly and enslaved you and—!"
The girl with the ribbon hugged me. "It's alright," she said in a soft voice. "We forgive you as well."
The other five nodded in agreement.
The girl with the Tough Glove spoke up. "What about the, oh, I dunno, the message for the king and prince?" She spoke very directly, a stark contrast to the ribboned girl's soft, comforting voice.
