Author's note: Asriel will be speaking like he has a cold, primarily because he does. I spelled Goatbro's speaking lines in this 'stuffy nose' manner, so, if you don't like it, I apologize for any misspelled words, but at the same time, if you like it, then I'm not sorry. Enjoy! -FluffyBoiAsriel
(Asriel's POV)
It was a beautiful Saturday morning. Despite the nice weather, I woke up feeling... well... off. I didn't exactly feel right. My head felt stuffed up, my nose was stuffy, and I felt very tired. I surmised that it was just fatigue.
I checked the clock, which said the time was 9:30.
9:30? I thought. I don't usually sleep late. Guess I was more tired than I thought.
I thought back to last night. I had felt very much active yesterday morning. I also remembered that, as the day went on, I became more tired, little by little. By last night, I was ready to go to sleep.
I knew that I fell asleep at around 9:00 last night. I had gotten about 12 hours, 30 minutes of sleep.
Why am I so tired? I thought.
My body felt somewhat heavy, so I didn't bother getting dressed. I headed downstairs to the kitchen.
(Frisk's POV)
The butterscotch-cinnamon waffles Toriel had made radiated a lovely aroma. I was sitting next to Chara, and Tori and Asgore were at the ends of the table. Aria was sitting across from me, but Asriel was not at his seat. Normally, he sat next to Aria. This concerned me.
"Asriel should have been here by now," Chara remarked. "It's already 9:30 and he's not here."
Toriel gave Chara a patient smile. "Asriel will be awake soon, my child," she said. "He did seem pretty tired last night."
"Tori's right," Asgore said. "We probably just need to give him a few more minutes of rest."
Aria looked worried. "Still, it's not like Azzy to sleep late. He's usually up and at 'em earlier than this."
"I'b here."
All of us turned to the kitchen entrance. Asriel was there, but he didn't look exactly at his best. Under the white fur, his nose was slightly red. He looked tired, like he hadn't slept in days. Also, his voice seemed different, as though he was stuffed up.
Asriel sniffled as he sat down at the table. "Nice," he said. "Butterscotch-ciddabon waffles."
Toriel looked worried. "Are you alright?" She asked. "You don't sound—"
"I'b fide," Asriel replied. "I'b just tired. A nice breakfast should help be." He took a small bite of the waffles in front of him. He didn't seem to be enjoying them as he usually did.
"Asriel," Aria said. "Are you sure you're fine? You sound stuffed up."
Asriel swallowed his bite of waffle. He took another bite, frowning. "Yeah," he said. "I've dever bed bedder." He swallowed that bite as well, turning toward Toriel. "Bob," he said, "I hade to break id do you, bud, the truth is, the waffles aren'd as good as I'd thoughd. I can'd taste theb."
Chara looked concerned. "They taste fine to me. Eat up."
Asriel ate one last bite of waffle before pushing his plate away. "I don'd feel that hungry," he said.
Toriel looked deeply worried. "Asriel, tell me. Are you really alright?"
Asriel coughed a few times. "I told, you, I—"
Goat Mom's face took on a stern expression. "Asriel Dreemurr, do not lie to me," she said with a balance of scolding and worry. "How are you feeling? And I want you to be honest."
