[H.28] High School: Diary Entry Twenty-Eight

The following day, you find yourself hesitating in front of the club room. Usually, you enter with ease and begin readying yourself for the afternoon along with Yuuka, but you can't summon the inner strength to do so. The revelation of Yuuka's relationship with your teacher has created such a shock to your system that you aren't sure how to approach her.

When the door opens, you're faced with your problems once more. "Hi," Yuuka greets you with a guarded expression.

"Hey..." You bow your head a little and step inside. As you change into your jersey, you feel her eyes on you, pondering her next move. Your hands make quick work on your hair, tying it in a lazy bun, before you address her. "Can we talk now?"

The girl sighs and drops herself into the nearest chair. "I suppose now is the best time..."

You seat yourself in front of her. "So... how did it start?"

Her fingers instantly latch on to the coils in her hair, pulling on them until she allows them to spring back up. "Well, I've spent a lot of time with him when it came to the club. He said he needed help getting acquainted with everything and then from there, we just talked. I got to know him more and we just started to click."

"Don't you find it a little... weird to be alone with a male teacher?" 

She huffs out an angry sigh. "[Name], normal people aren't paranoid like you. He's a teacher, and he's perfectly normal. He hasn't done anything that I didn't consent to."

The jab hurts, and your stance on the matter weakens. "Even so, it's okay to be cautious sometimes..."

"But overly cautious and you end up with severe anxiety like you." Again, her voice drips with venom.

You shake your head. "I'm not trying to judge you, please believe me. I just worry for you, but if you say it's okay, I will trust that."

Her body visibly relaxes upon hearing your outlook on the matter. She casts her gaze downwards in shame. "I'm sorry for getting defensive. I just hate that people think I'm a child that just went along with what he said. He's a really great guy."

Although you hesitate to accept her compliment of Ikeda, you go along with it in fear of her retaliation. "I see!"

She begins to warm up to the idea of talking fondly of her beau. "Yes, he even asks about you quite frequently. He worries about his students especially you with your disability."

Your lips frown at her remark. "It's not really a disability." 

"He said that yours is severe enough to be a disabling factor in your life. That's why he was always extra vigilant of you and checking in on you through me." She acts as if his deeds are innocent, as if his words hold no sinister plan behind them. However, trepidation nips at your senses.

"O-Oh, that is nice of him." You stand up and begin to edge towards the door. "Well, I need to get the gym set up."

Yuuka reaches out and grabs your jersey sleeve, halting you from leaving. "[Name]! I just want to say... thank you for listening to me. I am lucky to have a friend like you."

When she lets go of your sleeve, you send her a nod and rush off into the gym. Your mind jumps to different conclusions of your discussion as it processes as much as it can. The jabs, the defensive attitude, the normalization of having a teacher be your boyfriend-- it all feels wrong. 

But you're too afraid of a friend's rejection to hold your own in the matter. Instead, you conform and say what she wants to hear. All in hopes that your friend is right, that Ikeda-sensei isn't a monster.

A/N: I'm just gonna say this now. I don't agree with Yuuka's way of thinking, but this is how some people view.. it... I'm kinda basing this off of something from my high school where a student went out with a teacher senior year. I don't agree with that kind of relationship but it wasn't my place to judge them. However, I write this in hopes of others realizing that this is predatory behavior from the teacher even if it's veiled to be consensual adults.
