Wolf whistles. Notoriety. Lingering touches. Sinister faces.

They've all accrued ever since the photos. It's like people truly believe that your body is now theirs to touch, figuratively and literally. It's gross, beyond gross, that there are days you stay at home in hopes of escaping the world.

You thought yourself to be stronger or equal to the task. You truly thought you could handle the vitriol that came with being a body positive influencer. But all you can do is front the hatred with your eyes closed.

Today you stand before your house, mentally drained but with Kuroko at your side. He stares at the door to your parents' house with a pensive stare. Subtle pangs of guilt rack your body as you never wanted Kuroko to face your mother so soon. However, at the mention of your trip during the break, he asked to come.

"You don't have to face them, you know."

He breaks from his thoughts to address you with a small smile. "I'd like to. I haven't seen them in a while, and I'd like to say my own words to them too. Comments that were made when we dated in high school have been stuck in my head for a while, so I need to say my peace."

You nod your head, having no verbal comment for his resolve. All you can do is marvel at him taking such an initiative and hope to copy it for your own path.

Kuroko eyes you, spotting the tension in your expression. "But are you sure you are in the right state of mind for this?"

"I... don't know, but it doesn't hurt to try."

Your conversation halts at the sound of the door opening, and your father's blank expression greets you. He nods his head at you both, stepping to the side to provide you entry. "Your mother is waiting in the living room."

You don't say a word and travel at a leisurely pace inside the house. After maneuvering around, you notice that not a thing has changed. Your father did mention that the two reunited a month ago after many therapy sessions, but it appears she fixed the house to her usual clean standard the second she returned.

Upon entering the living room, you spot your mother standing from her chair. Your first impression is the palpable sorrow she holds in her eyes. Her hair is now short and she gained a bit of weight. However, there is comfort in seeing her.

"[F.Name]!" she gasps. Her body moves forward but jolts to a halt. "I... Can I hug you?"

It feels odd having your mother ask for permission to touch you. Never was she a stranger to you, always encroaching over any boundaries. The idea of her asking to touch her own daughter brings a downpour of tears.

Amidst the waterworks, you clench your teeth and nod your head. In an instant, you are embraced by her. Decades of careful, unconditional motherly love encapsulates your body, rendering you a sobbing mess. Your father joins in and Kuroko watches from afar.

It took time for all of you to pry apart. Now, all four of you sit at the dining table where many dishes await. You thank them for the food before beginning to chomp down on your mother's cooking. Not another word is said as you know not where to start.

Your mother, however, finds the solid footing in her apology. "I am happy you agreed to meet me today. I know we have a lot to talk about." Her eyes then land on Kuroko. "I have a lot to say to you as well."
