[C.31] College: Diary Entry Thirty-One

You read the long list of concepts and prompts with enthusiasm. On each line, you scribble a thought before continuing on with the document. Once finished, you set down your pen neatly with a resolute expression. Your manager, agency director and client sit there with bated breath.

"Okay, I've come to some conclusions and would like to share them," you say with a smile. "I appreciate the opportunity you've afforded me, especially with allowing me to make some conditions."

The client, a businesswoman in her mid forties named Sachiko, shifts forward in her plush chair. "We can only grant reasonable requests. However, we are more than happy to accommodate a skilled model."

"They do say she has the Midas touch," your director adds with a tense, cold smile. He's a man with a perpetual furrowed expression, mid-height with a crew cut. His penchant for finding talent and keeping them in line has earned him the title of director, and he wields it with little doubt. He knows how to sell, knows how to buy, but you can tell that you've given him quite a hard time during your tenure here. 

"Her social media influence has netted so much capital for the businesses," Mariko agrees. "All her fans agree that her endorsement never leaves them astray."

"Well, I only endorse what I believe in." You shift in your outfit, a button up tight blouse with a frilled pencil skirt. "And I believe in your campaign. Many girls have body image problems, most are told that they aren't good enough because of how they look. There are many who think that because they appear a certain way, that lingerie isn't for them."

Sachiko nods her head. "Exactly. We'd like to show a fresh take on the lingerie market."

"I think being focused on body positivity is a great way. Japan needs to strive for a more inclusive approach in their clothing." You hand over your notes to the client. "I put some ideas on how to approach the shoot. Nothing grand or luxurious. I think we should use something more intimate and casual and aim for the day-to-day person who wants to feel good about themselves. I also think we shouldn't photoshop anything so that we send the message that the imperfections are beautiful."

"That... is very brave to show your body untouched," Sachiko states. "You'd be condemned quite heavily online."

"I don't care," you respond. "I have a platform I want to use, and you want to use my platform to sell your clothes. This is my vision as an ambassador. If we both think our expectations align, then we can move forward."

Though the stoic expression on Sachiko's face appears permanent, you can spot a crack of pride in it. "Sounds like an excellent proposal. We agree to the terms."

A surge of pride rises in your breath and fashions your lips into a wide smile. To have stood up for your beliefs is a powerful feeling! You shake hands and promise another day for the signing. 

With a skip to your step, you rush to your date with Kuroko. It takes a few minutes to make it to your destination. To your surprise, you find him standing beside near a takoyaki cart when it should have been you arriving first. Nevertheless, you sprint forward with little care of the attention you receive. 

"Tetsuyaaaaa!" He turns and catches your powerful hug just in time.

"Oh." His body becomes rigid to withhold the force, but he quickly returns the hug. "You're here earlier than expected."

You pull apart to send him a pout. "I can say the same to you! You were supposed to be coming in thirty minutes."

"I suppose we just wanted to be early." His comment has you giggling and you return to hugging him. Your need for his physical contact has skyrocketed since the restart on your relationship. Not a moment goes by when you are not holding his hand or embracing him.
