[C.32] College: Diary Entry Thirty-Two

You aren't sure how Kuroko received the news that you accepted Jung's interest in working with you again. When it was first mentioned, he wore the usual doe-eyed expression before quickly accepting your announcement. Nothing else was said about the situation until the day of the shoot where he accompanies you with minimal energy.

"If the album is about you, I suppose it is only right of you to show up in it..." Kuroko comments as he sits in your dressing room, reading his phone in his usual silent fashion. 

You peel your eyes away from the lyric sheet to gaze at Kuroko's pensive state. He sits across from you on another sofa, focused on the phone before him. "Why do you say that?"

"Ah, well... Kise is writing some things in our group chat." 

Light curiosity turns into rabid interest, and you shuffle over to sit beside him. Your eyes travel straight for the phone screen where you read each word with interest.

Kise
'I'm telling you! It's some weird shady thing going on! Why would she accept his proposal?'

Aomine
'$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$'

Kise
'It's national news that he likes her. If she agreed to be on the cover, that means that she accepted his feelings.'

Kuroko
'She said she doesn't and it's just a job.'

Your lips form a small frown at your boyfriend's lackluster attempt to defend you, but then again you have said nothing to aid in your exoneration. Not a single word uttered after your announcement. 

"Tetsuya! Um!" You wait for him to face you, and when he does, you wrap your arms around him while placing your face in the crook of his neck. "I'm so sorry!"

Kuroko tenses at your exclamation, his thoughts coming to the worst possible outcome. However, he keeps such assumptions at the tip of his tongue. "For what exactly?"

"I should have explained this whole situation better. I was wrangling with a lot of doubt and emotions that I was afraid I'd explain it wrong and have you doubt me even more."

His eyes lower at your confession. "You think I doubt you."

"I..." Now, you pull apart from him to gauge his expression. Again, he appears hurt and you shake your head. "I cheated and hurt you, so I thought it was only natural for you to be wary of my every move."

His expression becomes softer with every word you speak as he finally understands your intentions. "[F.Name], I cannot deny that your betrayal left a mark in my heart. But I am dating a new person, a new you... and I think she deserves some credit."

"I!" Your lips press together to hold in your sob of relief as your eyes become wet with tears. Yet you do your best to hold it together for the sake of your makeup artist. You take deep breathes, silencing the range of emotions before continuing. "Can I tell you about my conversation with Jung?"

He nods his head and out comes your entire meeting with the man. How he has some sort of obsession over you; how you both connected over cheating; how he called Kuroko inadequate; what exactly got you ensnared in the project.

"I just thought that if he really means nothing to me and the pay is good, then I should just take the job. If I take it and show him how little he means to me, maybe all the controversy surrounding us will go away. At that moment, I truly believed that you would trust in what I do. That I don't need to test your trust, that I have it and I wanted to show that to Jung."

Kuroko sighs, shaking his head. "And I do trust you, but explaining the whole process without leaving anything out is much better than having me in the dark."
