The previous night has left you in a dazed state, one that persists throughout the day. Despite the tournament ensuing below, your brain cannot process what it sees as it still digests your revelations of yesterday. You finally admitted to yourself that you do not want to let go of Nijimura; however, you aren't sure the cost of such a thought.

The high-pitched sound of the buzzer disrupts your stupor and you glance at the scoreboard. Seirin is only a few points ahead but appear to be out of gas. There is a new girl flocking around the team, handing out towels and water bottles. You don't recognize her at all and assume her to be a first year.

Kuroko stares up at you, and you force out a smile. He sends you a small wave and you wave back. Maybe it is the distance, but he doesn't recognize your lifeless actions and continues on without a hint of concern.

Halftime arrives and you watch as the two teams head off to the locker room. You text Kuroko to see if he wants to meet up to eat a small snack with you, but he doesn't answer. Miffed by the lack of response, you head over to the cafeteria to sit down and eat the salad you brought.

You chew every bite meticulously as you people-watch to pass the time. At times, some folk would stare back, forcing you to glance elsewhere. However, when your eyes land on a certain individual, you freeze and a churn in your stomach has you almost running away. When they catch your stunned focus, they stare back in absolute fear.

Minato, the boy that had catalyzed your fear. He shifts his gaze around the cafeteria in search of someone, but he doesn't find them and breathes out with relief. Much to your dismay, he decides to head in your direction.

Your appetite dissipates when he nears you; it vanishes for the rest of the day when he speaks to you.

"[L.Name]," he greets you as he sits at your table. You were thankful that no one bothered to add themselves to your table, but he breaks the streak.

"... Why are you talking to me?" you ask as you close the lid on your salad. You refuse to meet his gaze or give him any attention, but he persists in speaking with you.

"I just want to talk," he states with less confidence. The chatter of the individuals around you two drown out most of his words, but it's his hesitance that softens his voice.

"Why? Just leave me alone."

"I... I will. I promise I will once I say my peace."

"What makes you think you deserve to say your peace to me?" you seethe out. "Leave me alone, Minato."

"B-Because I said something horrible to you!" he exclaims, hoping to stop your departure. "When it wasn't the truth. I was disgusting and--"

"Stop it," you whisper out as you glare at him. He halts his explanation, silenced by the enmity he receives from your expression. "I don't need you to say your peace... It took me a while to figure it out, but I know I'm not a slut. And even if I was, you had no right in saying and doing what you did."

"I-I know." His body becomes despondent under your words. "I am sorry. I was a stupid boy who was hopelessly in love with you... I knew I had no chance against Nijimura and was so desperate because of it."

Again, your heart stutters at the name of your best friend, but you drown out that feeling for the moment. "If you knew what you did was wrong, why did you wait until now to apologize?"

Minato sighs and scratches his head as he tries to piece together an answer. "Well, Nijimura beat us up pretty bad. Even though Ono wasn't part of it, he was there when Nijimura came to find me. He said some nasty things about you so naturally he got his ass kicked as well. After that, I wanted nothing to do with you in fear of him.
