A/N: And I'm baccck! Now time for the reader to really deal with his confession. I know there might be a lot of self-reflection and you just want to scream at the screen and tell the reader to PLEASE MAKE HIS DREAMS COME TRUE. But the reader is a frightened little rabbit that just needs some time.

You are such an idiot.
A cloud of gloom looms over your head as your body enjoys the comfort of at least ten blankets. Winter vacation flew by and you've already returned to school for the last semester of your second year. However, that leaves you with one issue: you have yet to give Kuroko a reply. You should have asked for his number before you disappeared from his sight. Maybe then you might have sent him a text to meet up.
Or would you have?... You are such an idiot.
Ever since his confession, you have been mulling over possible answers. The mere fact that he's utterly in love with you since middle school strikes true fear into your system. Are you really capable of making someone happy? Is it truly that awful for him to be in love with you?
You recall his adoring eyes, tender touch, and caring voice. Such thoughts allow your emotions get the best of you and you roll around in your bed wallowing in those emotions. Your cheeks have recently adorned a constant shade of pink, but now it paints your entire body.
'I need to see him!' you finally decide as you roll off your bed. You head straight for the calendar, scanning it for possible dates to meet up. Once you find the perfect day, your moment of determination deflates as you realize you still don't have a way to contact him. Your best chance might be tracking him down at his school, but it's currently a Friday night and there's no way he'd be at school at that time.
Your phone lights up and begins to buzz with a call. You peek at the caller ID, noticing an unknown number. "Odd... Hello?"
"[Name]-senpai?! It's Momoi!"
"A-Ah... Momoi, hi. How are you?" you greet with hesitation. You aren't sure how she acquired your number, and you don't want to inquire further. It was probably Akashi and his deep pool of knowledge.
"Good! So we're having a small outing tomorrow for Tetsu's birthday. I was wondering if you'd like to go?" she explains in her usually bubbly manner. "It's just people from Teiko attending to play some basketball. Nijimura-senpai can come too if you'd like!"
You smile at her attempt to make you comfortable. "He's in America still so I don't think he can come... I will try to see if I can make it though."
"It'll just be the usual six and me."
"Ah." You hold onto your phone tightly. "I might be busy, but I'll call you tomorrow just in case."
"Okay, senpai!..." The line becomes eerily quiet and you press your phone closer to your ear to see if she had disconnected. When you hear her exhale loudly, you ready yourself for her next few words. "Is it true that Tetsu confessed to you?"
Your eyes widen at her bold question. "Where did you hear that?"
"It's a rumor that's going around the basketball community. Tetsu has become popular ever since his team defeated Akashi, so I'm sure he's being tailed by fans."
"I see." You wonder whether you should divulge any information to her but there's something eating at you. "Do you...love him?"
"I do."
You go silent for a brief moment. It's as if you're waiting for her to say that she's joking but that never comes. "You're strong," you laugh awkwardly. "I wish I can be that confident and say things like that."
"If you love him, then nothing else should matter. Not people's judgment, nor your fears," she calmly states. Her even tone might come off soothing, but it feels as if she's criticizing you (even though you know deep down she isn't, but your nerves are the culprit of your self-consciousness)
"Momoi, do you know what happened the day I left as manager in Teiko?"
"...Yes. Everyone was there watching. No one mentioned anything to Tetsu after that incident since we thought you two would make up. But you didn't return and Nijimura-senpai became colder in practice."
"I'm...sorry."
"It's not me you should be apologizing too," she hums. "I just want what's best for Tetsu, and I hope you do as well."
You can't speak, your throat closing up as a sob makes its way. Although Momoi did not imply that you were no good for Kuroko, she made it your choice to decide that. And you never felt confident enough to believe that YOU were good enough for him.
You just believed that he was good enough for you.
"I--"
"Maybe I said too much... AH-- I have to get going. I still have some arrangements to still do before tomorrow. Maybe I'll see you there, senpai?"
"Yeah..."
"Night!" The line falls dead and your motivation is now shot. You no longer feel confident enough to see his face or accept his confession.
