You lay on your bed in pure silence as you stare at your phone screen. Ever since your decision to see Kuroko, your heart has been restless while deciding on how to approach him. Many scenarios have played in your head, but the one you've chosen results in a lack of an audience. Due to his birthday being today and his plethora of friends, you plan on seeing him later in the night when everyone is gone.

The time on your phone reads 11:09 PM and you resolve yourself in calling Momoi. Once you finally let out your last sigh of hesitance, you press on her name and begin the call.

"Hi! Hi!" Momoi cheerfully greets. There's clamoring around her, and you hear a bit of shuffling around until her surroundings quiet down.

"M-Momoi! Do you have Kuroko's phone number or address? I... I need to see him!"

There's a long pause of silence on your end as you hear her shushing the people around her. "Um... Well... I'll give you his address if you want to visit him." You rush over to your nightstand and begin writing down the address that she recites.

"Thank you!"

"Of course, senpai! I hope you found your answer."

She hangs up before you can say your goodbyes, but you don't pay any mind to that. Going through your GPS on your phone, you type in Kuroko's address and begin your travels there. You don't bother getting dolled out, wearing simple skinny jeans, a woven sweater, and your everyday coat. The scarf that Kuroko had lent you is secured around your neck and still smells like him.

Without a moment to waste, you rush out your house. Thankfully, his house is only a few blocks away and you fondly remember the time when he had walked to your home and shared a hug with you. He wasn't lying when he said he was close by...

When your GPS chirps and states that you have arrived, you close the application and glance up at the housing complex. You ring the doorbell as you inspect the home-- normal-sized with a beautiful small garden in the front. It takes a while for someone to answer the door, and when it swings open, the sight of a shocked Kuroko greets you.

"Good evening," you bow your head a bit.

"[Name]-senpai... It's late, are you sure you should be out here?" His concern only causes your heart to drum harder.

"I needed to talk to you. I know it's quite late... To be honest, it took me a while to finally decide on something." You try your best not to gaze down at your feet, holding your stare onto him. "If it's alright with you."

Kuroko glances back into his home and begins to talk to someone. He then grabs a heavy coat and walks outside, closing the door behind him. "I had to let my mother know... Why don't we head to the park to talk?"

You nod your head and walk beside him as you two travel to the neighborhood park. Once again, you both walk in silence due to the heavy atmosphere. There is also a lot going on in your head as you still haven't decided on an answer for him.

"Please sit," he offers you the bench and you instantly take it. Once you are seated, he heads over to the vending machine and grabs two hot chocolates. He hands you one of them and you accept it with a smile.

"Thank you."

He nods his head and seats himself beside you. The sound of your two cans opening is all that can be heard in the park. No one is around but the two you and your embarrassed nerves.

"O-Oh, happy birthday, Kuroko," you sputter out as you hand him a brown paper bag. "I'm sorry I didn't attend the outing you had. There was a lot on my mind."

"Thank you." He takes it and opens the bag carefully. The necklace you chose comes out and you hastily explain.

"It reminds me of our relationship! I have a matching one that's the moon--"

"I'm the sun?"

His confused tone halts your explanation. Tilting your head, you scoot closer to him to get a better view of the necklace. You inspect it and make sure the rock resembled a sun. "Yes... You're the brightest part of my life." Your reasoning has you dying on the inside. But as cheesy as it may be, it's the truth.

"I never had anyone say that to me." He's still in awe of the necklace.

"I'm glad you like it," you smile.

As he marvels at his present, he speaks up with little concern for the aftermath. "Have you decided, senpai?"

It takes you a moment to return to reality. You still have to answer Kuroko on whether or not this love is possible. "I don't exactly have a full answer. The more I think about it, the more I question myself."

This time, Kuroko approaches in a gentler manner. "Maybe I can help you?"

You finally make eye contact with him, and there are so many emotions on his face that you can't quite decipher. To most, he would appear expressionless but you knew Kuroko well enough. "I would love to continue having you by my side but I'm not sure if this feeling is because I want to hide behind you or that I love you. But I would like to give it a try."

"So what is the problem?"

You break eye contact and return your gaze to your lap. "I-I might be selfish in making this decision. I don't want to hurt you again, and honestly, I don't know if I'm the best for you."

An awkward bout of silence fills the air. You can feel your nose begin to run and you wipe it with the back of your hand. Kuroko hurries into his pockets and hands you a tissue. You thank him and continue to bask in the quiet atmosphere.

"[Name]." He finally gathers up his thoughts to answer, and at the sound of your name, you can't help but look at him. "What's best for me... Isn't it up to me to decide?"

Your eyes widen, "I... I mean-- Uh sure. Yes... Yes, it is."

"And I decided I would like to do this."

There isn't a shred of doubt in his voice, and it warms your heart. Tears sting the corners of your eyes, but they are born from relief. Why is it that every time you speak to him, you feel like you really aren't a bad person?

You jump up to your feet and twirl around to face him; confused, Kuroko stands as well. A dark blush dusts the apples of your cheeks, but you persevere through your embarrassment. Bowing your head, you exclaim with hope. "Please take care of me!"

It's like a choir of cherubs and trumpets blasting through his head, steam flushing out of his ears. His happiness meter can't go any higher than what it is now, and he feels as if he's experiencing heaven. A championship might have been his happiest moment and greatest accomplishment-- but this... This is on a completely different scale.

His dream of being steady by your side has finally been realized. The moment your fingers curl around his and you smile shyly at him, he knows that it's real.

That you finally became his girlfriend.
