A/N: This was supposed to be out last Friday, but my illness came back with a vengeance and I was out of commission for a few days. Ughhhh... Updates might be slower until I get this all settled-- maybe weekly or every 2 weeks. Please enjoy!

"So how'd you rate your first year of college?" Akari smiles as she attempts at small talk, causing you to send her a pointed stare.

The question feels loaded as a myriad of events have led to quite an eventful college year. It's hard to believe that you made it through the ups and downs of it all. You came in with a boyfriend, then broke that relationship. You got together with your childhood friend, then broke that relationship. Your parents were together but now in the middle of getting a divorce. You had no skills except for being a basketball manager, but now you engage in modeling and karate.

You would have never appeared at a goukon in fear of men, yet here you are seated at a pub at the behest of your friend. You recognize some girls and guys from your other classes but again, none of their names have stuck. There are two people in particular that you know, though it feels odd to attempt any conversation with them.

Shinji and Nijimura sit at the other end of the table, their eyes glued to the girls in front of them. You wish you didn't have this sort of luck, but alas, you always find yourself in these predicaments. All you can do is learn to roll with the situations and be your best self.

"Why do you ask such a question?" you breathe out.

Akari chuckles as she waves her hands around. "Just making conversation since no other guy wants to talk to me."

"Shouldn't you make conversation with the guy in front of you?" you state as you motion with your chin to the boys in front of you two. Both had expressed eager interest at the beginning, but your lack of enthusiasm for the event had them shifting their attention to easier targets at another table. For some reason they assumed that if Akari was with you, she too had no concern for the goukon.

"Well, he doesn't want to talk to me anymore. Plus, he's not my type... though your ex's friend is!"

You feel odd calling Nijimura your ex-boyfriend. Akari addresses him that way all the time, but it's because she's only ever known him as such. You, however, have had him as your best friend for majority of your life.

Yet life moves on and so should you. You peek past the rows of people to spot the dark-skinned man. "You're into Shinji?"

"Yes! Isn't he hot?" she gasps.

"Objectively, I guess he is handsome." Akari seems rather displeased by your lackluster answer, and you continue to speak. "Are you asking me to introduce you?"

Her eyes light up at your suggestion yet they dwindle at the sight of your annoyance. "Come on, you've been doing so well in therapy. I'm sure you'll be able to go be near him."

"Ahhhh... my anxiety is going through the roof thinking about going near him," you groan out.

Akari holds your hand and forces you to stare only at her. "Focus! Remember what your therapist said. Try to break down why you feel anxious in the first place."

"I was shitty to him."

"It's been over eight months," she counters.
