Mila wasn't allowed to attend school like her sisters. Instead, she remained at home, receiving her education through homeschooling. While she never fully understood the reason behind this decision, she didn't mind. Staying home kept her away from the potential drama that could have unfolded at school—drama she vividly remembered from her past life. In that life, Mila had been sent to school, only to be bullied mercilessly because of her status as the child of a commoner. Now, with the scar on her face, her father had taken measures to shield her from any trouble that might arise. She appreciated the attention and love her father gave her, feeling more secure and cared for than she ever had before.
One day, as she walked towards the entrance of their home, Mila stumbled upon Ambrose, who was accompanied by another boy and a girl. Both looked older than Ambrose, as well as older than herself.
"Ambrose!" Mila called out, a smile spreading across her face as she ran towards him. She noticed, however, that Ambrose didn't seem entirely comfortable with the company he was in. There was a subtle tension in his posture, and Mila could sense that he wasn't particularly pleased to have these two older children around.
As she reached them, the older boy stepped forward, offering a polite smile. "It's nice to meet you, Lady Mila. My name is Perry Graves. I'm Ambrose's older brother." Perry had striking red hair, a shade reminiscent of Cornell's, and pastel blue eyes that contrasted sharply with his hair. Mila returned his greeting, her curiosity piqued as she turned her attention to the beautiful girl standing beside him.
The girl, with her elegant posture and composed demeanor, smiled warmly at Mila. But Mila's thoughts were elsewhere. 'I wonder if Ambrose looks like his older brother?' she mused, glancing back at Ambrose, whose face remained mostly hidden behind his mask. The mystery of Ambrose's true appearance had always intrigued her, and now, meeting his older brother, she couldn't help but wonder if there was a resemblance beneath the mask.
As she stood there, Mila sensed that Ambrose might have felt overshadowed by his brother's presence. Perry had a confident air about him, the kind that came with experience and age, while Ambrose remained silent, his aura much more subdued.
"My name is Iris Willis. I'm just a friend of Perry," Iris introduced herself with a polite nod. Her fern green hair shimmered in the sunlight, and her cornflower blue eyes held a gentle warmth. Mila took a moment to observe them both, thinking that getting to know them might be beneficial, especially if Ambrose didn't object.
Before Mila could respond, Perry spoke up with a teasing smile. "No, Iris, you're my fiancée, remember?" His tone was light, but the words made Mila's cheeks flush red. She hadn't realized they were engaged, thinking they were still too young for such things. It was a small reminder that she might be altering the course of history from what she remembered in her past life.
"Our mothers arranged that. It wasn't our choice," Iris retorted, a hint of irritation in her voice as she glanced at Perry. It seemed this wasn't the first time he'd used that line when introducing them.
Mila quickly recovered from her surprise and offered them both a sweet smile. "Nice to meet you all! I'm Mila Noble!" Her voice was bright and cheerful, her expression sincere.
Before the conversation could continue, Ambrose gently took Mila's hand and started to lead her away. His actions were swift, almost as if he wanted to shield her from any further conversation with Perry and Iris.
"Hey! Don't hog her all to yourself!" Iris called out, her voice laced with playful frustration as she watched Ambrose pull Mila along. Perry followed behind, chuckling softly at the sight.
Iris couldn't help but notice the subtle change in Ambrose's demeanor when he was around Mila. He seemed more protective, more engaged, as if Mila's presence brought out a side of him that few had seen. It was surprising, even intriguing, to see him act so differently.
