"Stop trying to do everything alone!" ZH's voice was sharp and frustrated as he reached out to stop Mila, snapping at her just as she tried to move away from him again.

Mila froze at the intensity of his words. "ZH?" she whispered, her heart sinking as she realized how much her actions were hurting him. His concern was palpable, and she could see the worry etched in his eyes. Taking his hand gently in hers, she offered him a soft, reassuring smile. "Let's go together this time," she said, her voice filled with sincerity.

With a nod, they both cast the spell that concealed their identities, their disguises slipping back into place as the full masks covered their faces. Moving with quiet precision, they found a way to sneak inside, hiding in a cargo load that was being transported into the building. Once inside, ZH carefully removed the top of the crate, with Mila following closely behind him.

They moved quickly, and the urgency of the situation drove them forward. Every moment counted, and they couldn't afford to hesitate. As they reached a certain room, a sense of dread settled over them. ZH pulled Mila into a dark corner, pressing them both against the shadows, and they listened.

The sound of beasts crying out filled the air, their voices filled with pain and anger.

'You wretched humans!!!'

'You will gain nothing from this!!!'

'We will kill every one of you!!!'

Mila's heart ached as tears welled up in her eyes. She could see the horrific scene before her—the beasts' mana being drained and absorbed into stones by the Mana Hunters, who stood by with cold, satisfied smiles. Every fiber of her being screamed to act, to stop this cruelty, but ZH held her back, knowing they couldn't take on all the hunters at once.

"That takes care of the rest of the beasts here. We need to gather more soon after," one of the hunters said, his tone devoid of any remorse.

"What about the egg?" another hunter asked, his voice indifferent.

"It's probably already dead. No one can get that beast out of its shell," the first hunter replied dismissively.

As the hunters began to leave, Mila felt a surge of desperation. The moment they were gone, she rushed out from her hiding place, her eyes immediately searching for the egg. When she found it, her heart clenched. She could sense that it was still alive, still fighting. Kneeling beside it, she reached out, placing her hand gently on the shell as tears streamed down her face.

"Skye..." she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "Can you hear me?" she called out, her heart aching with the need to connect.

For a moment, there was silence, and then she felt it—a faint but steady heartbeat beneath the shell.

'Mila? Is it you?' Skye's voice echoed softly in her mind, fragile yet filled with hope.

Mila couldn't hold back her tears as she realized Skye was still alive and well. "It's me, Skye. I'm okay. It's time for us to be together, finally," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. As she looked down at the egg, she could only imagine the struggle Skye must have endured to survive.

'I agree,' Skye responded, her voice soft and relieved. Slowly, Skye began to dissolve into tiny particles of light, which gently flowed into Mila's body. As Skye merged with her, Mila felt an unexpected lightness in her chest, as if a weight she hadn't even realized was there had been lifted.

"Hey! They took the egg!" a voice suddenly shouted, breaking the moment of peace.

ZH and Mila instantly knew they were in trouble. "This is no time to stand still," ZH said urgently, grabbing Mila's hand. They dashed down another corridor, trying to find an escape route. As they turned a corner, they encountered two hunters blocking their path. Without hesitation, ZH kicked one while Mila quickly dispatched the other with a swift strike. Another hunter appeared, and Mila took him down with a well-placed kick.
