Mila sensed the tension in the room, knowing her decision wouldn't sit well with those who cared for her. "I'm sorry, but I cannot stay here," she said, her voice steady yet filled with determination. "If I stay, I will only grow weaker. I have to find the beasts that are calling to me." It was the first time she had openly shared her true intentions with them.
Emmett's eyes widened in shock. "You have beasts now?" he asked, unable to hide his surprise. He had been by her side all her life, never imagining she would speak of such a thing.
"I only have one for now," Mila replied calmly, "but there are more out there, and I have to find them. I can't stay here."
Trivett, who had always been a loyal servant to the Noble family, took a step forward, his expression firm. "I believe I can't allow you to do that," he said, his voice laced with resolve. With a snap of his fingers, he summoned his beast, Edric, a Gem Eye Smoke Bear that appeared out of a swirling mist. The bear let out a menacing roar, intending to frighten Mila into submission.
But Mila stood her ground, her gaze unwavering. "I will not surrender," she declared, meeting Trivett's eyes with defiance. She was prepared to face whatever challenge lay ahead, even if it meant standing up to those who had always protected her.
"Mila!" Sara's voice trembled with fear, unable to believe what was happening. She looked at Trivett in shock. "Trivett, what are you doing?!"
"Are you crazy?! You'll hurt Lady Mila!" Emmett shouted, stepping forward, his protective instincts kicking in.
Trivett remained resolute. "She won't stop, so what other choice do I have?" he said, and with another snap, Edric charged toward Mila, the ground shaking beneath its massive paws.
"Mila!" Sara cried out again, her voice filled with panic as the beast bore down on her.
Mila closed her eyes, her heart racing but her mind clear. She was prepared to face whatever came her way, knowing this was a test of her resolve, a challenge she had to meet head-on.
Vivian's voice echoed in Mila's mind, calm yet powerful. 'If you wish to call me, call me by my name. I will be there whenever you need me.'
Mila, now filled with a newfound confidence, whispered, "Vivian." As soon as the name left her lips, a brilliant green light erupted in the hall, knocking Edric, Trivett's beast, backward with such force that it tumbled across the floor. The smoke that made up Edric's form began to dissipate, revealing the elemental wounds inflicted by Vivian's power. Trivett, realizing the severity of the situation, had no choice but to recall his beast, allowing it to heal.
The sight that met the eyes of the three loyal protectors was nothing short of astonishing. Before them stood a majestic Fairy Forest Unicorn, its form shimmering with the vibrant greens of the forest. The unicorn's gaze was fixed on where Edric had stood moments before, its presence commanding and undeniable.
Mila's voice was steady as she addressed them. "Does this prove my strength?" Her words hung in the air, filled with a determination that was both new and startling.
Trivett, visibly shaken, could barely form words. "H-H-How?" he stammered, unable to comprehend how Mila had summoned such a powerful beast. In a swift, unexpected move, Mila stepped forward and drove her blade into Trivett's side. The force of the blow sent him crashing against the wall, where he slumped down, clearly in pain.
Sara and Emmett were frozen in place, their eyes wide with shock. They had never seen this side of Mila before—so decisive, so unyielding. The sweet, gentle girl they had always known now stood before them as a warrior, ready to fight for her freedom. The reality of the situation sank in, leaving them both stunned and speechless.
