"Sir Emmett, do you think you know me that well?" Mila smiled softly, her eyes locking onto Emmett's. Of all the people in the mansion, Emmett was likely the only one who understood her as deeply as he did, and she knew it. 'This man can read my thoughts,' she mused, but her smile remained playful, masking the complexity beneath.
Emmett, ever watchful, studied her carefully. "Mila," he began, his voice steady but filled with concern, "I don't know exactly what you're planning, but whatever it is... it seems dangerous." His tone grew more urgent, the weight of his worries evident in every word. He knew Mila's heart was set on ending the war, especially with Leo's life—and the lives of the Mireraweth troops—on the line. "Are you really going to keep this from the comrades who have traveled with you for almost your entire life?" He pressed. There was a subtle sting of betrayal in his words, as though the young lady he had helped raise was drifting into perilous waters without confiding in those closest to her.
Sara, who stood quietly beside them, shifted her gaze between Mila and Emmett. Her curiosity burned silently, the question lingering in the air—What exactly was going on with Mila?
Mila sighed, her posture softening slightly. "Sir Emmett, I have everything under control. I'll be fine. Don't worry so much." She tried to reassure him, her voice calm, but even she knew the truth hiding beneath her words. The plan she had set in motion was delicate, and any mistake could unravel everything, possibly even cost her life.
Emmett's gaze didn't waver. He could sense the deeper risks, even if she tried to downplay them. "Mila," he said softly but firmly, "we are your closest comrades and friends. We've never let each other carry a burden alone. We can't stand by and watch you take this on by yourself." His voice trembled slightly, a rare break in his usually calm demeanor. "Remember, you always have us by your side."
As Emmett knelt before her, his eyes filled with genuine concern, Mila felt the weight of his words. She could see the care in his expression, the worry of someone who had been there for her through everything, someone who would never let her stand alone if he could help it.
She took a breath, knowing full well that Emmett wouldn't let this go without some kind of involvement. "Sir Emmett," she began, her voice a little quieter, "if you truly wish to help me, then this is the one order I will give you." Emmett nodded, ready for whatever she asked of him.
"Stay alive. And keep a close eye on Sara... and your unborn child."
The moment those words left her lips, Mila watched as the realization struck Emmett like a lightning bolt. His eyes widened in shock, his expression shifting from concern to disbelief. Sara, too, froze, her eyes snapping to Mila, equally stunned. The secret of her pregnancy, one she hadn't spoken aloud yet, was now out in the open, though she herself hadn't fully processed it.
Mila gave them both a knowing look, her smile gentle but mischievous. 'I'm not blind,' she thought, recalling the subtle signs Sara had shown. 'I figured she was likely carrying a child by now. But honestly, I was just guessing...' She inwardly sighed in relief, thankful that her hunch had been correct. 'Phew... I got lucky this time.' There was no other excuse in the future.

As Emmett remained speechless, still processing the unexpected news, and Sara's eyes darted between him and Mila, caught off guard by the revelation, Mila took her chance. She carefully slipped away from the two, who were now clearly about to have a long, personal conversation. 'They'll be talking for a while,' she thought, moving with silent grace toward the door.

Addis remained inside the small, dimly lit house, as the unknown woman had instructed her to do. Days had passed, and the anticipation gnawed at her. 'How long will she take to tell me the next step of this plan?' She wondered, her thoughts swirling with impatience. The quiet of the room felt oppressive, and Addis had spent much of the time lost in her own thoughts, replaying the events that had led her here.
