Mila and Shanna made their way through the lively night market, with Kate nestled comfortably in Mila's arms. "How do you like it here?" Mila asked, her voice warm and cheerful as she smiled at Shanna, who seemed to be enjoying the bustling atmosphere.
Shanna returned the smile, her eyes reflecting contentment. "I'm starting to feel more at ease here. These past few days with you have been filled with nothing but good memories. I really hope we can continue like this."
Mila's heart warmed at Shanna's words, knowing how much it meant to her to hear them. The two continued to explore the market, savoring the moment, until an unsettling feeling began to creep over Mila. She noticed that they were being watched, the presence of unknown individuals closing in around them.
Sensing the danger, Mila gently pushed Shanna behind her, her eyes scanning the crowd. "Mila..." Shanna whispered, fear evident in her voice as she realized something was wrong.
Mila stood protectively in front of her friend. "Who are you people?" she demanded, her voice firm as she faced the group of men who had surrounded them.
One of the men stepped forward. "We need to clarify something about the two of you," he said, his tone cold and authoritative.
Without hesitation, Mila called upon Vivian's ability. Vines erupted from the ground, lashing out at the men, who quickly dodged the attack. The brief opening was all Mila needed to grab Shanna's wrist and pull her into a run. "No time to hesitate!" she urged, her voice steady despite the urgency of the situation.
As they ran, Mila summoned Skye, who appeared in a flash. The two women hopped onto the beast's back, and Skye took to the air, soaring above the market. Below them, the men gave chase, not willing to let them escape so easily. Shanna clung tightly to Mila, her eyes squeezed shut in fear—she had always been afraid of heights.
Their flight was suddenly interrupted as a group of Desert Four-Winged Falcons appeared, surrounding them from all sides. Mila's heart pounded as she realized how dire their situation had become. "This is going to be a rough flight," she muttered, trying to keep Skye steady as the falcons closed in.
Skye dodged and weaved, but the strong winds and the relentless attacks made it difficult to maintain control. In the chaos, Shanna's grip on Mila slipped, and before she could react, Shanna was falling through the air.
"Shanna!!!" Mila screamed, panic surging through her as she urged Skye to dive after her friend. But just as a falcon unleashed a burst of fire towards them, a gust of wind shot past Mila, and to her shock, she saw a man catch Shanna in mid-air.
Shanna, disoriented and frightened, found herself cradled in the arms of a stranger. She looked up at him, confused and scared. "Shanna..." the man whispered, his voice filled with relief as he held her close. "Where have you been?"
"Please let me go!" Shanna cried, struggling to free herself from his grip, but he held her tighter, not wanting to let her go.
"How can you forget about me?!" the man exclaimed, his voice a mixture of pain and desperation. Without warning, he pressed his lips to hers in a forceful kiss as if trying to make her remember him.
"Mhm! S-Stop!" Shanna gasped, pushing against him, finally managing to bite his lip hard enough to make him release her. "I don't remember anything! Please don't hurt my friends!" she pleaded, her voice trembling as she glanced at Mila, who was still fighting off attackers with Skye—a hint of blood there from the corner of their lips from that kiss. There was no lie in her gaze, she had no memory of him.
The man turned his attention to Mila, who was clearly struggling. "If you come with me, I'll let her go," he offered, his tone cold and calculating.
Mila and Skye were now trapped within a fiery barrier, the flames closing in on them. Shanna's heart ached as she realized the danger Mila was in. "I agree!!! Please, leave them alone!!!" Shanna shouted, her voice desperate. She would do anything to keep Mila safe, even if it meant sacrificing her own freedom.
