'Alright, that's enough. What did you say your name was again?' One of the beasts spoke out, its voice calm but firm. As it stepped forward, Mila could just barely make out the faint outline of a face emerging from the swirling wind. This particular beast seemed different from the others—there was no malice in its gaze, only a thoughtful consideration of her words, unlike the skepticism of its comrades.
"My name is Mila," she replied, standing her ground. Despite being surrounded by powerful beasts that could easily overpower her, Mila sensed that she had nothing to fear from this one.
'Your full name?' The beast's voice echoed, resonating with a calm authority. Mila couldn't help but wonder why this beast, out of all the others, was showing her kindness, generosity, and willingness to listen.
"Mila Noble," she answered, her voice steady. She wasn't sure if revealing her full name would change anything, but she hoped it might help her cause. She needed their help, or at least a clue, to find her dear friend in the vast expanse of the Maedda Kingdom.
'We will help you,' the beast declared.
'We will?!?!?!' The chorus of surprised voices from the other beasts rang out behind him, their disbelief clear. They had never trusted humans and couldn't understand why their leader would suddenly decide to assist one.
'How can you make that decision on your own?!' one of the beasts demanded, its voice filled with outrage as it glared at the leader, questioning his judgment.
'Yeah! How can you make that choice?!' Echoed another, soon followed by more voices, all demanding answers.
The leader remained calm, ignoring the protests of his comrades. He knew his decision would be controversial, but he was resolute. 'I will have my group of comrades search for clues to help you. We'll meet again when I send one of them to fetch you. Then, we will tell you where they are.' His words were final, leaving no room for further argument. The other beasts, though still wary and uncertain, began to disperse, their forms slowly fading back into the wind.
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" Mila called out, her voice filled with relief and gratitude. As the last of the beasts vanished, the strong wind that had surrounded her also dissipated, leaving only a gentle breeze that whispered through the garden. "That... was amazing!" she exclaimed, her voice echoing in the quiet space. She didn't care if anyone heard her or not—she was too overwhelmed by what had just happened.
'Those air beasts are just as judgmental as I remember.' Vivian broke the silence, her voice cutting through Mila's thoughts. 'They have their own ways of communicating, much like I did, but being like a fairy, I could use my powder or transform it into an orb to reach out to you more effectively.' Vivian's tone was both nostalgic and practical, reminding Mila of how different their methods of communication had been.
Mila, now fully focused again on her surroundings, nodded thoughtfully. "Let's head back," she said, her voice resolute. "We need to stay alert for any signs that they're coming to find us. We can't let this opportunity slip by—it might be our best chance to find Skye quickly." Determined not to miss any clues, Mila knew that this would require time, patience, and sharp attention to detail.
As they made their way back, Mila found herself wandering through the garden, her thoughts momentarily distracted. She continued walking until she stumbled upon the training grounds. Her eyes widened slightly as she compared it to the one back in the Mireraweth Kingdom—it was much larger, more expansive. There was no one there, which made sense, considering it was likely noon, a time when most would be eating or resting. She remembered she had slipped away without telling anyone, so the grounds were quiet and empty.
