As nightfall enveloped the town, Mila and her companions set their plan into motion. Emmett moved silently through the shadows, working to free each slave from their bonds while their 'owners' and 'masters' remained in a deep, unnatural sleep, courtesy of Vivian's sleeping powder. The air was thick with tension, but the only sound was the faint rustling of chains being unfastened and the quiet footsteps of those being freed.

Meanwhile, Mila made her way into the governor's home, her steps light and purposeful. She wanted to understand the man who had brought so much suffering to this town and, more importantly, to see justice served. As she navigated through the dimly lit corridors, she eventually found herself in a room where a lone slave was tied to a corner, her body slumped in exhaustion.

"Psst! Hey!" Mila whispered, trying to get the woman's attention. The woman's eyes widened in fear as she saw Mila, and she looked as if she might cry out for help.

But before she could make a sound, Mila smirked, and with a swift, precise movement, she broke the chain that bound the woman within a second. "Would you like to beat this bastard with me?" Mila asked, her voice carrying a blend of mischief and righteous anger. The woman stared at Mila in shock, unable to comprehend that such words could come from someone so young.

Without waiting for a response, Mila moved toward the old man, the governor, who was still fast asleep in his bed, unaware of the fate about to befall him. She quickly tied him up, ensuring he wouldn't be able to escape or resist. With a swift kick, Mila knocked him off the bed, his body hitting the floor with a dull thud. The sudden action startled the woman, who let out a small shriek.

"Eeeekkkkk!!!!" she cried, her voice a mix of fear and surprise. She had never seen anyone treat the governor with such disdain, let alone a young girl.

But the governor didn't stir; he remained in a deep, drugged slumber, his loud snores filling the room. Mila turned to the woman, a playful yet determined smile on her face. "Why don't you join me?" she offered, holding out a metal pipe she had found nearby.

The woman hesitated for a moment, but then, seeing the resolve in Mila's eyes, she took the pipe. Together, they began to beat the governor, their strikes calculated to bruise but not kill. With each blow, the woman seemed to regain a bit of her strength, her fear gradually being replaced by a sense of empowerment.

"Let's go!" Mila urged after they had done enough to ensure the governor would remember this night for a long time. They left the room quickly, making their way out of the house.

Once outside, they joined the other freed slaves, who were gathering in the open air. The woman Mila had helped ran to her family, embracing them with tears of relief streaming down her face. Mila watched the reunion with a sense of satisfaction, her heart warmed by the sight.

Emmett approached her, and though their faces were hidden by their disguises, Mila could sense the shared smile between them. They had accomplished what they had set out to do, but there was still more to consider.

Mila turned to the group of newly freed slaves and called out, "Do you all have any places to go?" Her voice was strong, but the response was silence, as the freed slaves looked down in sadness and uncertainty. Most of them had been captured and taken far from their homes, with no idea how to return or where to find safety.

Seeing their plight, Mila's mind raced with the possibilities. She knew she couldn't leave them to fend for themselves in such a hostile world. "Everyone, pack everything you need for the time being," she instructed, her voice carrying an authority beyond her years. "I need to discuss some matters with my comrade."

Mila led Emmett through the forest, keeping a watchful eye on the freed slaves as they hurriedly gathered everything they needed. The dim light of the moon filtered through the trees, casting long shadows over the scene. Emmett, who had been quietly following Mila, couldn't help but voice the doubt that had been gnawing at him.
